      Trouble W/ Lucid Dreaming

Hello! I am new to the forums here. I learned about lucid dreams about two months ago and became fascinated with them. I immediately researched the best methods to begin lucid dreaming, and have worked with them for a while now. The problem is I have yet to have a lucid dream. I have very good dream recall now, and my dreams are much more vivid, but for some reason I can't reach lucidity. One time I did realize I was dreaming but the next second I was awake. I heard that you can overexcite yourself the first couple of times. But I just feel like I've been trying so hard for so long. The only thing I fail to do are reality checks. Please let me know if reality checks would greatly increase my chance of lucidity, or any other tips you might have for me. Thanks! I'm glad to be apart of this forum.

      Welcome to DV.

Just keep at it. You say you realized you were dreaming once, that means you know you can do it. Two months is not an overly long time, even though it may feel like it now. Sometimes it can take a while to get the first ones going.

Yes you should do RC's. It can help a lot. You could find yourself in a dream thinking that you may be dreaming, but not really believe it. That's when making reality checks a habit is very handy. It reduces the chance of you shrugging it off in your dream, then waking up frustrated that you didn't get it.

      Good luck.

Welcome to dream views, yes doing reality checks throughout the day should help you have lucid dreams but only because it has you questioning reality more. I don't remember a single lucid dream where a random reality check was what made me lucid, I always became lucid first then used a realty check to reassure myself. Also don't get frustrated, maybe take it easy for a while on trying.

      ^Probably
