      Cold induced lucid dreams

Hi everyone, long time dreamer first time user-

The majority of my lucid dreams have been DILD's, but during harsh cold environments. This last week my unit went to Yakima WA for a annual training event. I had been picked day one to be a firegaurd on the ammo point with a buddy of mine. We are given the hours of 11pm-7am. I decided to pull the first shift. The ammo point was in the middle of a desert where the wild chill factor made the tempurature about 45 degrees. After my shift ended at 3am I bedded down for a good night sleep. I immediately went into a lucid dream, and had 3 DILD's in the same sleep cycle. I woke up at 6am, can anyone help me explain this?

Hm. Actually, I've heard of changes in temperature towards normal body temperature triggering REM sleep. Of course, that'd be more applicable if you described having WILDs instead of DILDs.

In your case, I can't form a reasonable hypothesis. Let us know if it's a repeatable thing, I guess.

Hi Naquido, welcome . What comes to my mind is that during sleep, if there is any condition that would somehow be able to affect your sleep (like, being quite cold), it would result in an unusual situation for your body/mind (for example it might cause you to sleep lighter and/or uneasy), and perhaps this could make you more aware during the dreams. Hence more easy lucid dreams.

This has been a reoccurring event in the past but just not as high of a frequency. The previous times I thought it was just by chance, and it was usually in a 2-4 hour time frame which the DILD occurred. Xetro, I think you pretty much hit is spot on about being on a lighter level of sleep. I wish I could recreate that same cold feeling at home, but down comforters are so damn comfortable.
