I'm trying WILD and I have a question about time.

How long should I sleep for and how long should stay up for until I go back to bed to attempt WILD?

Because your REM periods are longer towards the end of the night, we recommend trying to WILD after 6 or 7 hours after initially falling asleep.

The amount of time you should remain awake during a wake-back-to-bed is dependent on how easily you fall asleep. If it takes you a long time to fall back asleep, have a short WBTB (5-10 minutes). If you fall asleep too easily, have a longer WBTB (15-20 minutes). Be sure to record your dreams during WBTB.

You will fail, the first few times. Keep adjusting your wake-back-to-bed times until you succeed.

It also depends on the person. For me, I try to stay awake only long enough to realise that I am awake, and that I want to induce a WILD. I dont even open my eyes. This way, my brain/mind will remain in a quite drowsy sleepy and dreamy condition and I can perform my preferred WILD technique (what I do is I visualise myself spinning around and then just "roll" into the LD). But of course you can try lots of different ways and see what is best for you. Good luck exploring .

Although Xetrov's suggestion sounds logical, I have had the most success staying awake for 60 minutes or so.
