      Here looking for help

Hello! I found this forum because I'm seeking advice... I love dreaming, have fairly regular lucid dreams, and have had mutual dreams with several close friends, a couple of my cousins, and past lovers. Currently I am having a problem with my dreams being disturbed my ex-partner...I posted about this in the "Dream Control" section. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Anyway, I'm happy to have found this forum! Thanks!
      Blessed Be.

      Welcome to DV!

About your ex-partner... I'd recommend either a chainsaw or a flamethrower. Lightning would work well too.

      Wow, mutual dreams?

If you are serious, you should definately post about that in the Beyond Dreaming section. I am positive you will become god if you tell them how to do it.

Coco - have you (in your dream) asked your ex directly why s/he is appearing in your dream, and/or what part of yourself s/he is representing to you in your mind? Sometimes (just like in real life, heh), calling someone on their sh*t will cause them to either own up or go away But seriously, maybe they need to tell you something before they can go away. Or maybe you need to tell them something?

toucantango: I love the quote in your sig.

      Back on subject:
Yes... I suppose if you wanted a more practical approach, you could go with what toucantango said...

Thanks Hidden HP Book 7... the scene where Harry is in a lucid dream with Dumbledore!

Don't get me wrong, flamethrowing is effective too. I'm a social worker, so I tend more towards "headshrinking" methods

I need to re-read the HP books. On the last few ones they got so complicated.

      Bring out the blowtorch.

You're not kidding. The last three all kind of run together in my mind, and I read all of them as they were released and not again since. have you seen the latest movie yet (if you're into that part of the franchise..)?

I didn't read any of them until after all of them were released. I figured I could just watch the movies. By the time I got to around the third page of the first book I was hooked though. So, yeah, they all sort of run together for me after the first four books, which i can keep straight because I've watched the movies so many times. I haven't seen the 6th movie, but I heard it's good. The 5th one left no impression on me; I keep forgetting they even released it. Have you seen the new one yet?

      shared dreams

Quote Originally Posted by yuriythebest View Post

well i've only had shared dreams with people with whom i'm already psychically connected. my brother, my cousins, my ex, my best friend, two close friends who are twins (that was 3 of us together), a client of mine (i work with women who have developmental disabilities and mental illnesses), and i think my dog.

at least half of my mutual dreams have been spontaneous. however, when they were lucid and purposeful, we talked about it beforehand, went to bed around the same time, had a "setting" already picked out. my cousins and my brother and i used to all agree to meet at a cabin with a red door by a lake in montana. it did often work! sometimes we'd all fall asleep with our heads together. i've often had a red door as a signal and a reminder that i was supposed to find someone or meet someone in a dream. my best friend and i were going to meet by lake michigan (where we are both from) by a building with a red door. i ended up floating in lake michigan on top of a door. then i started thinking about red doors, remembered that it often meant i was to meet someone, looked at the shore and there was my best friend waiting for me.

accidental shared dreams are not always lucid for me. the first mutual dream i had with my ex was not lucid and our perspectives were noticeably different. i saw her on the side of the road and she was hitch-hiking and i decided to pick her up. in her dream she was running from people and i picked her up to rescue her. in my dream, however, i was unaware of the danger that she was running from.

anyway, good luck! my best advice is to talk about it beforehand, go to sleep around the same time, have a meeting place picked out, and do it with someone to whom you are very close.

What she is telling us is that her ex is a recurring character in her dreams and that she doesn't want to have dreams of him anymore.
What I would suggest doing is banishing him from your dreams next time he appears in one. Shout out that he is not allowed to enter your dreams anymore. Believe that it will work also, afterward he shouldn't appear again.
