      Fake Lucidity

Is it possible to have a dream in which you think you know that you're dreaming, but it's really just part of the dream? I think that I had such an experience. During the dream it seemed very clear to me that I was dreaming, but when I woke up it felt like I had only been "watching" the dream and wasn't really aware of what was going on.

When you were in the dream did you know you were dreaming for sure? If you did then it was lucid. If you don't think you knew you were dreaming then it wasn't lucid.

Exactly this. There is no such thing as 'fake' or 'false' lucidity.

It's not always as cut and dry, though.

Although I agree you are either aware you are dreaming or are not... You can become aware, but almost immediately loose awareness.

What would this do? You would "be in a lucid" but not really be aware any longer.
      Bollocks.

Yes there is. It happens to me.

I dream that i'm lucid, and do things, but when i wake up, i think "hey, that was not me, i would never want to do that thing, damn i was not lucid"

I'm sure this could clear your mind.

and yes, it has happened to me.
I'm in the dream, I feel like I am lucid, like I am conscious, like I know it's a dream, but that doesn't mean I am really aware of my state.
it happened to me again today. it was weird, things became a bit vivid, but it wasn't lucidity. but no problem.

I have had numerous dreams where I became aware of the fact that I was dreaming, but was unable to actually alter the environment.

You were still lucid by definition, just unable to control the dream.

Read around the tutorials for methods and techniques on controlling your dreams. Hopefully you'll find something useful there

I have had a dream like this recently. It is strange, as nN says if you know you are dreaming, you are lucid, but it felt like I was dreaming about being lucid, without actually knowing I was dreaming.

Exact same thing happened to me just now. I woke up like 10 minutes ago. I dreamed i was lucid and i false awakened in my bed. I was like "oh no.. i woke up, not again". I stood up and fell on my back. The fall took like 10 seconds, then i realized something and while lying on the floor i started to levitate a bit. Then suddenly, i found myself in the school and we were studying guitar stuff on the computer science class and i started to speak in the Hutt language (connected to a previous dream). I ofc believed it all and i was back to normal dreaming.
It was like, i was half lucid half not. Happened to me before, but this was a bit more powerful. I don't count it as my second LD tho.
