      delayed dream recall

Hey, I am into day two of trying to lucid dream, and I've noticed that I keep waking up discouraged , thinking that I didn't dream at all, but then hours later I suddenly remember one or two dreams in detail and write them down.

I was just wondering if this is normal, and wanted to hear from some other people.

      Thanks, Dellclown.

Hey dellclown, Welcome to Dream Views!

I don't think that your "problem" is particularly abnormal. Often times throughout the day, I'll suddenly remember a dream I had because of somehting that I see. A friend will say something and I'll suddenly remember I had a conversation with this friend in a dream. Sometimes it can be totally unrealated, like, "That's a funny looking sweater, I wonder where they...Hey, I had a dream that I was lost, my compass pointed only to mossy rocks, and all there was to eat was a tree of purple bananas!" Don't worry, your dream recall will increase as you progress, and if you keep around here, you'll have lucid dreams and a support group to help you on your way there! Give it some time, and just be sure to faithfully write in your dream journal, and to do regular reality checks. Check out the tutorial section of the site for methods on how to lucid dream, or polish up the dreams that you do get. You can also ask around. The forums are all helpful, and you'll be able to get whatever help you need.
      ...And then to dream...

That happens to me also. I'll wake up, I might remember that I had a dream but completely forgot what it was of. Then it comes to me within the next 3 hours of the day. A little inconvenient but better then not recalling it at all.

Welcome to Dreamviews! It is in fact quite common. I would suggest setting an alarm to go off in two hour increments throughout the night. Wake up and writew down your dreams right away. If you wait until morning to write everything down, you are likely to forget nearly every piece of your dreams. You may recall bits and pieces later on, but for best recall results, I suggest waking throughout the night! Good Luck to you!
