      Dream recall trouble,

having trouble recalling my dreams after I wake. I set my alarm for 0500 and hit the snooze twice then get up, and by the time the second snooze goes off my dreams have all evaporated. It's a bit frustrating having a good dream you want to member but it always slips away. I have tried just getting up at the first alarm and have always had an off day, something about the progression of waking in the morning helps? Any-who, Ideas please?

If you're stressed or really tired it could affect your dream recall, but if you just started with recalling your dreams its normal that you wont remember much it will get better when you do it more often though.

Three things that have helped me:
Repeat a mantra in your head over and over again before going to sleep. Something like, "I WILL remember my dreams," with the intention of following through has worked wonders for me.
Keep a dream journal. Honestly, one of the best things you can do. If possible, I recommend downloading Banhurt's DJ program, with password protection. That, or a locking diary by the side of your bed works well, too.
When you first wake up, hold perfectly still and try to remember as much of your dreams as you possibly can. Then, when you think you've remembered as much as you're going to, go ahead and write them down. Moving causes neurons in the brain to fire, making it harder to remember/focus on your dreams.

The first week or two is gonna be an uphill struggle, but it's well worth it. Just stick with it, and you'll be recalling your dreams like a pro. Good luck!

the best thing that you can do is write as soon as you wake up the first time; DON'T WAIT. You don't think you'll forget but you do. If writing everything is too inconvenient for you as soon as you wake up that's ok. Just jot down some keywords. Lets say you have a dream where you are swimming in the ocean next to a ship, and you see a light house. Write down (swimming, ocean, ship, lighthouse). When you feel like waking up you see these words and you can remember and recall the whole dream.
