Hello everyone. I have known about lucid dreaming for a while, but just found this website today while researching information about sleep in general. It always seemed very interesting to me, and I can't wait to try it. Of course I'm gonna have to start working on my dream recall, as most of the time I can't remember what the hell I dreamed about unless it was a really vivid dream. Im thinking about doing DILD first which seems the easiest and then sometime try WILD which seems really interesting way to lucid. I have one question really, when I fall alsleep, mostly when I nap/fall alseep in class, right before I enter sleep, I experience this weird spinning sensation, as if my head is spinning in circles a lot. It lasts for about 5 seconds then fades, and I fall asleep. Does this have anything to do with helping me lucid or is it a natural thing when falling asleep that doesn't mean anything? Anyways hoping to learn a lot here and eventually have some awesome LDs!

Welcome. DILD is probably the best place to start. As for the spinning never heard of it before but everyone is different.

I'm not sure what the spinning was but it is probably just your brain drifting into unconcsiousness. As for DILD, you will want to have a dream journal(im going to assume you dont already have one). This will help find Dream Signs and improve recall. You will also want to start doing Reality Checks along with Dream Signs to increase the chance of a DILD. Thing is with the Dream Journal, half of the time I don't even remember the dream when I wake up. I have heard to set some kind of alarm to wake you at a certain point of the REM cycle, but that sounds like a hassle. Any good tips to remember dreams when you wake up without them fading completly within the first 5 seconds of waking up?

To remember dreams you just lay there after you've woken up. Don't open your eyes and think "what did i dream about". Usually works for me.
