      Strange dream - maybe lucid?

I know very little about dreams so I'll try to explain this best I can.

Yesterday I found this site and did a little reading and found it all interesting and maybe worth a try. I also read some stuff on Wikipedia about dreams.

One of the things I read was about reverse blinking, so I gave it a shot last night before going to sleep. It made me feel very heavy, almost like my limbs were being pulled downward. I also saw a lot of swirly blue colors that seemed to get more vivid as I stared past them. I don't know what that was about.

However, someone was watching TV downstairs and the noise kept snapping me out of the whole reverse blinking thing. I ended up moving (I felt strangely numb) and falling asleep like I normally do.

One of the things that I read on Wikipedia was a statistic on how many people dream in black and white. I never really noticed what the colors in my dreams looked like, so I suppose that stuck in my mind. As I was dreaming, I suddenly thought about how I saw colors in my dream - which made me realize I was dreaming. I began thinking about how lucid dreams could start that way, but the dream faded away or something. The next thing I remember was my alarm clock going off.

I would appreciate it if someone could explain what happened, or point me in the right direction to find out on my own. Sorry for the length of this.

You were pretty close. All sound can get pretty annoying when your trying to sleep so try to invest in some ear plugs. But keep on trying it usually takes a while to get it. =] don't give up.

It sounds like you were right on the edge of becoming lucid. It is a good step in the right direction. I'm so excited to see so many having success with reverse blinking. I always push it as an easy technique for beginners, but few people ever seem to take my advice.

It defiantly seemed to do something for me. If nothing else, I fell asleep faster. I'm going to try it again tonight, hopefully without the distracting noises.

Completely unrelated, but this site has a pretty cool community compared to other forums I've been to.

The swirly stuff you experienced was SP. If you had been doing that using WBTB (wake back to bed) or a nap, you could have used it to WILD.

But the dream itself, it seems to me like you did become lucid for a short amount of time.

So, well done on your first LD... At least, that is if I read it right... which I am sure I did.
