"slow down", look around, don't be in a rush, tell yourself you ain't going anywhere and just examine the details |

Hey guys, I've had 5 lucid dreams the past 2 nights but 4 of them were like... less than 5 seconds long. I would realize I was dreaming and a few seconds later wake up. The last one I had was last night, it seemed to last about 25 seconds. I had woken up from a LD and was mad that I couldn't make them last longer but I fell right back asleep into the same dream and did the nose pinch (which is the coolest feeling, ever.) |

TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus
TOTAL LD's (almost all DILD/MILD) =160!!
new goals: have more LD's than Shift[X]

Everyman 2 LD's/ sleep schedule progress
I think you're exactly right--I do rush. As soon as I'm lucid I start trying to do stuff and I really should just slow down. I guess it's because I'm excited that I'm dreaming. |

Well, yeah. You want to accomplish something, but not in a hurry. Take your time, and don't get frustrated or angry! Negative feelings has a negative effect on your dreams I think. (Though I don't have any evidence approving this) |

Lucid dream goal: Fly over a city at night and watch all the lights!
Hey guys, I had an LD last night and after doing the nose pinch RC I didn't move at all and just examined where I was. I took a long time gathering my thoughts before I did anything, and rather than it turning out to be less than 20 seconds long like my others, it was about TEN minutes long! It gave me plenty of time to do anything I could think of, but I ran out of ideas. |

Ten minutes is a pretty long lucid dream for a beginner, so you should be happy you got that far. However you can extend them even more by trying not to get too excited- this is probably why you woke up when a husky charged at you (not that I blame you). Just tell yourself it's not real and face whatever is attacking you without fear. You can have a lot of fun by fighting it as if you're a character in a kid's cartoon, or you can take the advice of Dr. Stephen Laberge and try to make friends with whatever is attacking you. |
