Summar of my success/failure, please advise

Technically i've had 3 lucid dreams so far. But none of them were any fun. And they all required me to mess up my sleep schedule by doing WBTB.

1st: woke up in the morning, thought about doing the lightswitch reality check. Put on lucid dreaming isochronic tone from iso-tones.com and fell asleep. woke up, did the light switch check, i was in a dream, got REALLY excited, went into the next room and woke up

2nd: again WBTB with the tone, became lucid momentarily without any reality check, and without getting excited, but immediately woke up

3rd: was this morning. again WBTB after about 4 hours of sleep and about 45mins of being awake. I found myself in my room, and I knew I was dreaming. No need for reality check. Didn't get excited, but was feeling weird as hell (actually all 3 times it was weird). This time i was feeling a little floaty, so i started flying a little bit, more like hovering in my room. And then again I woke up. it only lasted like 30 seconds. About as long as my 1st experience, but longer thanthe 2nd.

I have tried doing WILD many times, but they never work.

I want something that I can do without waking up in the morning and messing up my sleep.

And I want the dreams to last for a long time (i read about all the spinning/hand rubbing/touching/yelling stuff and I don't have the control to do that, nor do I actually recognize when i'm fading out of the dream)

      Suggestions please

Have you read any of the other tutorials for induction techniques?

Hello mister and Welcome to Dreamviews! As soon as you realize you are dreaming I suggest immediately practicing some stabilization techniques. Upon becoming lucid stay calm (like you have already) and attempt to stabilize. That "weird" feeling you speak of and the quick exit makes me think you aren't quite fully immersed within the dreamscape. You can try rubbing your hands together, performing RCs (for stabilization), shouting "Increase Clarity now!", shouting "Stabilize Now!", looking at your own feet for a few moments and then slowly raising your head up, focusing on a single object for a few moments, spinning for a moment, feeling textures/objects around you, looking around at and noticing the detail of the room/objects around you, etc. If you want to LD without messing up your sleep, I suggest the MILD or DILD technique. The tutorials for them can be found here, http://dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=65458 and here, http://dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=65032 . You could also try the EILD technique which can be found here, http://dreamviews.com/community/showthread.php?t=62541 (I use iTunes and put a song on repeat as I sleep. When I hear the song in my dream, I perform a RC. To make it easier, I actually use a song about lucid dreaming ) Good Luck to you!

Should you still wake up from a lucid dream, you might want to try DEILD. It's basically a WILD, but don't be discouraged because you haven't been able to 'slow' WILD before. DEILD is a 'fast' WILD technique. You can be in a lucid dream again in a couple of seconds.
