New to all of this.

Hey everybody, My names Marrisa & I'm 17. I live in Texas. I'm very involved in theater ( hence the name), I'm just your normal teenager lol. I actully learned about lucid dreaming at a play practice yesterday. One of my friends was talking about her first lucid dream, & I thought it was really interesting. I looked it up on yahoo answers & saw a link to this site. So here I am. If you could tell me some things about lucid dreaming that would be great. Thanks

I am rather new to this lucid idea too but there are tutorials that you can look at to condition yourself to remember your dreams and eventually become lucid. I still havent had a lucid dream that I can remember

Hi Theaternerd to dreamviews. I hope you enjoy your stay. One thing you should definitely know about lucid dreaming is it takes time and patience. Some people can have lucid dreams in a short time while it might take others more time. No matter what don't give up, you are sure to have a lucid dream sooner or later. You also might want to check out the Attaining Lucidity portion of the forums and read up on some induction techniques. It will also be a wise idea to start a dream journal and do simple reality checks.

Marrisa! You've come to a good place to learn and practice Lucid Dreaming. Lucid Dreaming can be used for many things; to have fun, to learn more about yourself, to solve problems, to face fears, etc. There is no wrong way to use Lucid Dreaming. Like sora said, how long it takes for a person to Lucid Dream varies, but it's extremely fulfilling when you have your 1st one. Your friend that talked about her 1st LD; does she happen to have an account here?

Welcome to Dreamviews! I suggest starting with the tutorials section of the site. It has alot of information on the many methods/techniques used to attain lucidity. Since you are brand new to lucid dreaming you may want to browse through some of the common terminology used here on Dreamviews. These terms can be found in the DV Dictionary (which is located in the tutorials section). The next step would be starting a dream journal. Whether you make a public/private journal on this site or just keep one in a notebook, it is highly recommended. Recording your dreams can help build recall, keep your mind on dreaming (which can often lead to lucidity by itself), and can also help you find dream signs and many other interesting details. Alot of lucid dreaming is trial and error. Try many different techniques/styles/methods and don't be afraid to throw your own twist/alteration to a method if you think it will suit you. The idea is to find out what works best for you. There are alot of different techniques on this site that work well for some, but may not work at all for others. Just don't get discouraged if a technique doesn't seem to be working for you. Just stay positive . Good luck in your future efforts and if you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask!

Thanks for all the great tips/info. I read some of the tutorials but I havn't gotten threw all of them. I think I'll finish reading them tonight. Snowy Egypt- She dosn't have an acount here yet, but I told her about it & I think she's going to sign up. She found out about LD through her Aunt.
