How not to ruin a WILD..

This has happened to me 3 times so far. Some time during the night I'll suddenly realize I'm laying on my stomach in full SP (always the same exact position, all 6 times), I feel like I get really heavy and I'll start having auditory hallucinations. The first night I thought it was just really heavy footsteps of some monster, but last night it happened and I realized what it was and said "ok, this is that "train" sound people talk about, I'm supposed to hear this". I lay completely still and stayed calm and the sound went away. I didn't do an RC at this point (this is the first time I heard the sound). I thought I should just stay completely still but after a few seconds I heard the sound again and something burst through my door and had this like.. rabid wolf sniffing sound like it was about to eat me and I could feel it on my bed (so obviously I was completely dreaming). Then I waited a few seconds after it stopped but I must've woken up because I did a nose pinch RC and I was awake. I think I might have fallen asleep the first time I heard the sounds but I didn't RC.

So should I be trying the RC the first time I hear the sounds? I don't want to ruin a good WILD because this seems like the only way I've ever gotten to a point where I have hallucinations (I can't do it if I purposely try to WILD, this way I just stumble into one). How should I check that I'm dreaming without moving on accident in real life?

Also, I know this sounds crazy, but I think I'm actually dreaming that I'm doing WILDs and then just waking up. Sorry if this is so long-winded ... I guess my question is really just : What kind of RCs should I try doing that won't mess me up to know when it's safe to start moving?

Do you ever feel yourself "transition" into the dream? Most people can feel themseves being "pulled" into the dream so then they know they are in the dream. But I would think after seeing something bust through your door, its time to do an RC and know you are dreaming.

I didn't actually see it burst through.. I kept my eyes closed the whole time. I never really freaked out the second time.. I was just like "this is weird.."
