It depends, you could just fall asleep, then I would just try mantras, like you already mentioned. If you want to have a WILD however, you should relax your body and stay still. Focusing on your breathin is a good way to stay conscious while your body fall asleep. I'm not really a WILD expert, but these are like the main points, you have to relax your entire body and stay still so it falls asleep, but you need to keep your mind conscious.
