      Hello (with a few questions)

Hello, I have been on and off trying to get a lucid dream for a few months now. (I think my biggest problem is not being committed to trying to get one every night)

Currently the only dreams I get ( I got a few realistic ones when I was young) are ones where I am laying in my bed in the morning partially awake partially asleep and I am basically watching dreams like movie that I am taking the role of a camera in.

And nothing is in focus, I know exactly what is going on but I can't see or hear anything clearly.

Though if some character represents me in the dream I can basically rewind the dream and make them make a different choice if I didn't like the outcome.

Though sometimes I actually get those in the daytime.

Is that type of dream common?

Though the reason I want to go into a lucid dream is because often odd things happen in my mind and what better way to see what is really in your mind than dreaming?

Well the odd things are when I am alone sometimes I get words coming out of my mouth talking to me that aren't MY thoughts. And a only one of them ever fought my motor controls. And that one disappeared before any of the others appeared.
Though sometimes I have to fight stuff in the dream like things I get from time to time. And I just want to see it all clearly so I can take full control of my brain.

I have tried to chant "I want to See the dream, feel the dream, hear the dream, remember the dream." As I try to fall asleep, though that tends to cause me to end up laying in my bed for a while feeling my body going numb then nothing happening while I am trying then I usually get a burst of energy that makes me stay awake for a few hours.(and I have tried reality checks during those bursts of energy and it appears to be reality)

Though I do have problems getting to sleep before midnight, and sometimes end up staying up to 2 am or 3 am.

I made a recording with a microphone that says "I need to see the dream, feel the dream, hear the dream, remember the dream." and then I was just listening it for hours straight (on a computer) then it started to say "I need to see the dream, feel the dream, hear the dream, upgrade the dream." and continued to do it for 4-5 minutes after I noticed it before going back to normal.
Do you think I should change the recording to what it randomly changed to?
Do you think I was starting to dream and that was causing it to change? (I was playing a computer game so I am not sure I was falling asleep)

Oh and recently whenever I look at my eyes in a mirror I start to feel drowsy, have my eyes start to close and feel like leaning on the mirror and sleeping.
I didn't let that play out any of the times it started to happen. I was able to snap myself out of it before physically touching the mirror with my face. (thank you hat)

      Any suggestions?

The dream being out of focus and not being stable I think has to do with you being new to lucid dreaming. Give it some time and as you start to dream, make sure that you work on your stabilizations techniques such as rubbing your hands, looking around, feeling textures or just simply sitting down and waiting for the dream to stabilize. Once the dream is stabilized, you can shout "increase clarity" or focus and it should work.

And I recommend the WILD lucid dreaming method if you are planning on having a lucid dream everynight. You can also practice using the DILD method, but that is more like a chance thing to me, it comes more naturally to others. The WILD method can be scary as it involves the entering into the dream phase which can be hectic, hallucinative and fast paced.

      Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I will also start having a routine of RC in the morning.
And if I can get into a habit of doing them every-time I wake up I might do it when I first enter a dream.
