Exclamation help plz- hypnagogic sounds and images

      hello,
I do not know anything about lucid dreaming. I hope to read what i can from this site later on. I have been having what seems to be hypnagogic images and sounds since i was 14. they have always frightened me. I didnt even know there was a word for it until recently. This site is the first time I heard of anyone actively trying to have them
they are not every night, but when they come they are disturbing to me. When i close my eyes for sleep, its not long and i start to see random images, blenders, people i know, people i dont know more often. cars, streets, places i have been or not been. alot of things. I also, but not as often have sounds, mostly when i was a teen, they start to come before they arrive, meaning, i feel anticipation something will come and then i hear a voice or garbled words, sometimes my name. When i was a kid i used to be able and i still can but do not, close my eyes and push myself through my head/mind. like the microsoft screensaver with all the stars moving. I can move through it i used to be able to adjust speed or even turn and go through doors. it was just something to do when i was bored.

anyways, am i nuts? is there a way i can make these images i spoke about at first into something pleasant for me? because til now they fill me with anxiety and dread. in fact i always thought they were a symptom of anxiety. thanks in advance for your time

Yeah, I get these too. I'm new to Lucid dreaming so i can't really help you much except tell you that you are not crazy. Or at least if you are , you aren't alone.
The only thing with me is that i mostly get these when I'm awake. I guess the closest thing you can describe it to is Deja vu but i think it closer to this just... I'm awake. It's a real unsettling thing to feel... I get really dizzy after it. I hear a lot of sound hypnagogic's.... But i only get one picture. It's like a salmon colored room and i can see the shadows of two people arguing and their voices sound muffled. It's very disturbing.

      hi. .
ohh the deja vu! I have that alot during my waking hours. not so much now but during periods of high stress and anxiety its like its constant.

yes it is unsettling. where are all the professionals of LD here? lol
      I get muffled voices too.

do you have anxiety from it or related to it?

I'm new too but from what I've read, the more complex the HI and HS, more near you are from the REM sleep, thus near the dream. I saw someone saying you can control them, though it will take longer to go to dreaming state.

its amazing really to hear that people would want these occurrences. my older brother gets them too. and he has said he likes to control them and he can at will. I would like to try, just from a standpoint that i do not want to be victim to them anymore.

if there is a thread or tutorial on how to do it i would be interested. When i was younger i could control my dreams. i just did it for fun. i used to be able to fly. One particular dream i remember, i was saying i am going to fly tonight. and i started running down the strreet and took off. i was like woooooooow im doing it. and just as i started to get some altitude i got scared and consciously made myself land and wake up.

I didnt like the flying alone so other dreams i would have something to fly with, one time a cheshire cat. that was cool.

I feel i have let myself become afraid of all these things and would like to remove that fear so i can sleep again.

      thanks for answering

In what comes to control dreams (and HH I suppose) it counts so much being positive and believing with every single part of you in what you want (and practice of course). Try saying to yourself "I can control these images and sounds at my will" when feeling afraid and overlaying the fearful ones for friends voices and cool musics.

i will try that. I think when they come, i feel paralyzed, mentally. but i am going to try to do that the next time. i was wondering if people try to make them occur and how do they do that exactly. If i know how to do it at will then maybe i can stop them at will too.

      Welcome Alaanqaa!

No, you're not nuts. Hypnagogic Hallucinations are normal. As for turning them into good things, I'm not sure how you can do that.

My best advice would be not to become afraid of the hallucinations, as they could get worse. Just relax, and try to take your mind off them.
