New To The Site and Looking Forward To Seeing What My Mind Can Do

Hello to all you lucid dreamers out there I'm fairly new to all of this. For the past couple of weeks I've been really getting into researching the mind and all that it's capable of. I've gotten really into binaural beats and brain wave entrainment. I'm really interested in WILDs and have been trying my damndest to achieve one when I go to sleep each night. The idea of going directly from the waking state to the dreaming state is amazing to me. My biggest problem with that seems to be not letting my mind wander from thought to thought or daydream to daydream.
So I've just eaten a strawberry banana yogurt, three pieces of what I believe to be Gouda cheese and drank a tall glass of chocolate milk. Looking forward to my attempt at lucid dreaming tonight. If you guys have any random tips for me or even just want to introduce yourself to me on this little thread here I'll enjoy anything you have to say.

PS: Yes I know my screen name is extremely unoriginal and uncreative but it's true and it's the first part of my e-mail so it's easy for me to remember.

      Happy dreaming!

Hey Dustin, welcome to DV! Sounds like we won't need to nag you about doing your reading I'm not too good at WILDing (read: I suck), but if you've got questions about DILDs lemme know

      Thanks Shift.
Yeah last night I tried to WILD for hours and just couldn't fall asleep ha. I managed to count to over one thousand breaths before I decided that I just wasn't tired enough. I then stayed up for a while going through the forums reading about different WILD techniques. There were two points in the night that I felt I made progress though and they were:

-At one point during my initial attempt when I was counting my breaths I felt a strange sensation over my entire body. I don't want to say that it was a "tingly" sensations but it was something kind of like that.

-Later in the night after I had done some more reading on this baby (and eaten more cheese haha) There was a split second in my breathing excersises that I felt I had seen myself in a mirror very clearly. Then I went back to normal.

But you're good with DILDs? Since I've started a dream journal I've noticed that my dreams often have many many strange incidences that just wouldn't fly in the waking world. Like there being a zombie epidemic (which is the only real recurring dream I've noticed having) or my friend (not a woman) telling me that he has a vagina. I just always seem to accept all these strange things happening as they are in dreams. So I think that I get a lot of signals that I am dreaming, any tips you have on training my brain to realize that these things that are happening aren't real?

Recurring dreams should make DILDing easier. Do you have any idea what's cuing these dreams? When I first bought dead rising I had zombie dreams for about 35 days straight Try turning the idea of zombies, fighting off zombies, weapons, viruses, plywood, chainsaws, canned food, anything that reminds you of zombies into a dreamsign and reality check to them. Same with the vagina thing, although that may be harder since it's more abstract and really the only factors are the one friend, him acting out of character, the possession of a vagina. Could RC every time you think of that guy, people behaving weirdly, vaginas, people who have vaginas, etc. Raising waking consciousness and reality checking are some of my choice methods of DILDing.

Yeah I suppose raising waking consciousness is gonna be a big thing for me. I have started to RC (in waking life) a lot, mainly in the area of looking at the time on my phone/computer and making and mentally confirming that the time is something logical.
As for if I know what's been cueing my zombie dreams I have no idea ha. I started getting them after I saw my first or second George Romero film a couple years ago and now I have one every few months at least. They're all completely different each time though. My friend also gets these dreams too.
Oh and Mario I totally wanted to "click the sig". Worth it haha.
