Everyone's different, so you may find it easy to start participating more in your lucid dreams. I agree that when you become lucid, do things that will make you focus more on the dream: rub your hands, look at the scene around you, listen for the sounds of the dream, and take in the smell of the dream. All the while, just relax and remind yourself that you're dreaming. Many people tend to wake up when they become lucid, but you'll get the hang of it with practice.
