      Forgot about lucid dreams

I'm new to this site, however, I've had lucid dreams before, when I was a kid. I remember how I had to put a bit effort into inducing a lucid dream. I forgot about it for a long time, and I'm sad my skills at lucid dreaming aren't as sharp as they used to be. I hope to get that ability back.

I was also wondering about dream length.
I've had dreams before that seem to last days.
These dreams in particular are the ones I have
the best recall of. Has anyone ever experienced
a lucid dream that seems to last for a very long
period of time? That would be great to have a
LD that seems to last days. Is it possible?

No its just that there is no sense of time in dreams. I dream could last ten seconds but in the dream world it would seem like hours.

I never see any posts that say lucid dreams are long.
It seems like everyone can only get them to last a
      few minutes...

You can increase the subjective duration of a dream with tricks similar to ones used in television and film -- in under an hour you can see the sun go down and up again, see the seasons change, see a child grow into an adult, etc. These provide the illusion of time passing.

But, I strongly suspect, you won't be able to pack in years worth of details into your minutes of real dream time. The brain is a finite entity, processing experience at some finite rate. But the experience can certainly feel longer.

Regardless of how it is achieved, what matters is what you thought happened. If it felt like years, that's great, doesn't matter if it's just a few snapshots.

      Why?

Because you will REMEMBER it as a few years. And you will have the experience of a few years.

It would be great to be able to have a dream that seems to last a very
long time, especially if it's lucid, but it's so hard to stay lucid.

I recalled my dream last night, it seemed to last all day.
I've only been trying to recall dreams for 3 nights, and
I already have had huge success.

This makes my fifth day attempting to LD & Recall.

I have recalled 10 dreams, and had 4 lucids. Found who my DG is.

      Keep at it!
