      Re-returning to the forums

      Hallo~

I had started up around here a few months ago, but due to my memory loss fits, I promptly forgot. It's all come back to me again, so I figure I'd re-introduce myself!

I am one of those "lucky" lucid dreamer types, being quite in control of myself and aware of my dream-state in most of my dreams. This is completely unwilling, though.

Normally my dreams are horrible, and when they become worse, my mind snaps me into control of myself, reminding me it's a dream. I frequent the settings in my dream world, and a lot of the times my dreams are actually uneventful except for a lot of walking around in a place filled with dread (feeling emotions are very strong when I dream, no doubt due to the power of the right side of my brain). I am always in control and aware of myself, but never the world or what happens. Rarely, I can wake myself out of a dream, but if I do, my body is paralyzed and cannot move. Probably a side-effect of lucid dreaming, where I may be fully awake now, but my body still has me frozen so I do not move around in my 'dreams' (as the human body is suspossed to work... I reckon).

Anyway! I'd like to help other dreamers in this forum to hopefully become in control of lucid dreams themselves, and in the meantime, find ways so I can -stop- myself from doing so.

Anyway, off I go to browsing, la~

p.s. about my memory loss problems, the neurologist thinks my problems in dreams are related altoghether and I've been taking niacin which helps (it also helps me stop being lucid in my dreams). Maybe as I learn more about my condition, I can learn what kind of vitamin-esque things will help others enjoy lucid dreams.

Welcome back, silp! I'm also one of those strange nightmare-free people. It sounds like you've been waking up to find yourself still in sleep paralysis. The body paralyses (sp?) itself during REM to keep people from acting out their dreams. It's nothing to be worried about unless it doesn't go away after a minute or two. There are some other ppl around here that have trouble having non-lucid dreams so if you're interested you can talk to them. *tries to think of who they are* Aneas and barbizzle are the two others that I know.

      Hope to see you around!

Oh man, sorry about the sleep paralysis thing. That's a pisser, I know first-hand.

As far as the dreadful lucidity, I'm hesitant to really give any advice, since you are currently seeking treatment for your memory loss fits. So I'd put your doc's advice first priority always. But if you do get some interesting advice here that you'd like to try, please run it by your doc first.

In the meantime, keep us posted on your improvements ok? We want your lucid dreams to be fun!

      rooting for you,
      xoxo ophe
