I think you are right when you say you are seeing the first signs of lucidity - because when you experience a fully lucid dream for the first time you will definitely know You recognised a difference between dreaming and waking which was your 'wake up call' - unfortunately instead of waking within the dream, you woke in real life. Good luck, you are nearly there! Keep us posted!

Listen, we get threads like this a lot. Here is the general rule: A lucid dream is a dream in which you are aware of the fact that you are dreaming. Just ask yourself: "Did I know I was dreaming?" If yes, then it was lucid. Congrats.

      Thanks for clarifying!

Sorry if you guys get this question so much. I'm trying to be more than person who thinks "I can do fun stuff in my dreams? I'll give it a shot" and get interested for a couple of days then give up.

My ultimate goal is to get to know my inner self, and learn more about who I am. As soon as I get more control and frequent lucids I am going to seek out my subconscious. I've actually started reading a book by Robert Waggoner, Lucid Dreaming: Gateway to the Inner self. It's a great read so far, and I really recommend it!

But mostly this was just an intro post with a small question I had. I'm so glad I finally found a good community with serious people who have similar interests. It's good to be here

      Hi Brule,

Don't worry about asking too many questions, they are welcome here. I applaud you in your quest to use lucidity to learn more about yourself, so many, many people use it only for entertainment. Although I've not has a chance to read it yet, I hear the Robert Waggoner book is pretty good!
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

      Thanks!

While that is my ultimate goal, who isn't excited about the prospect about flying though? Gotta say it's been one of my lifelong dreams! But stuff like that is more like the icing on the cake. You know?

I also ordered Stephen Laberge's Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming, as well as a supposedly out of print book by Malcom Godwin called The Lucid Dreamer: A Waking Guide for the Traveler Between Worlds. http://www.amazon.com/Lucid-Dreamer-.../dp/0671872486

My father first introduced me to lucid dreaming years ago, but it never really stuck with me. But now that I've finally tried to devote myself to experiencing this, I feel an almost child-like form of excitement. It's a whole new world, with tons of information to absorb. So far it's been a great experience.
