First time lucid dreamer...Need advice, techniques, experiences, ect.

This is my first time writing or using this site in any manner rather then to learn about what lucid dreaming is. I've done it in the past unconsciously but wasn't fully aware that i was dreaming. I have a pretty good background on it all but am curious to as what is the best technique to starting lucid dreaming? A way of better recalling? Anything that can help me get started and on the right track would be greatly appreciated.

Have you started writing in your dream journal? That's the way to begin. Keep a record of your dreams. As soon as you wake up, even before visiting the bathroom, write down whatever you remember of your dreams in your dream journal. If you postpone it, your dreams will evaporate from your memory. The idea of keeping a dream journal is to facilitate better dream recall. It is also an exercise in self-exploration. You will learn several fascinating things about yourself and the working of your mind if you keep a dream journal. Wish you all the best.

Silly as it sounds, keep a dream journal. It really does help...you may think you can recall your dreams very well, but except for a very exceptional few, this is not the case, and many of your memories, especially the finer details of your dreams, will have evaporated in a few hours.

I recommend either the DILD or MILD for beginners...DILD if you're short on time, MILD if you've got some time to spare and want faster results. WILD is the trickiest method, but it can render the fastest results. Everyone is different, and you must find the technique that works best for you, but MILD is generally a good starting point. Remember that patience is key...it can take weeks, even months to become lucid, but if you keep with it, you WILL become lucid. How much effort you put into it can also have a significant impact on how quickly you become lucid.

If you ever want to find out more on the matter, I recommend reading Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming, available online, in stores, and in pdf format. It is a great resource and incredible instruction manual...if you have a few bucks or some time to spare, I really recommend it.

The last few nights i've had my dream journal right next to me on my bed stand, yet no dream ceased to stop me and make me realize that it wasn't reality, yet it was just merely just another passing dream.

I tried the WILD technique 2 days ago and had fantastic results, although it was a bit scary and shocking at first. Is the WILD technique more commonly used for when you go to bed at night, taking a midday nap, or can it be used at any time to induce a lucid dream?

Another thing that i've realized is that i'm having an incredibly hard time remembering my dreams. I'm thinking now this may be due to the excessive amounts of "green" i consume before dozing off. Will this greatly impact my lucid dreams capabilities?

It's normal...it takes some time to build up the habit of reality checking and questioning reality. It takes many people a month or longer to have the first DILD.

WILD sounds like it may be a better technique for you, though. It is most often combined with the WBTB method (sleep for 6 hours, WILD for 2). It can also be used with midday naps, though its effectiveness starts to tank after 5 hours from when you first woke up.

Yeah, marijuana will wreak absolute havoc with your dream recall. I recommend laying off the stuff.
