      First time...in 5 Minutes...!!

I'm an utter newbie, today being the first day I even discovered it was apparently possible to acquire lucid dreams! I read a few of the techniques, and coincidentally feeling a little drowsy (being mid-afternoon), thought it'd be a good time to give it a whirl.

I was VERY surprised with the results. I sat in front of the laptop in the office chair, and closed my eyes. I reversed my breathing (I do quite a bit of singing, and remembered being told that the 'stomach drop' technique is what the body switches to when asleep). So by taking relatively deep breaths in this manner, ignoring any signals of discomfort (predominately my feet on the tiles)...and it only took a few minutes before my breathing went into auto-pilot and I began feeling very tingly - and my muscles weird. I certainly began feeling detached in a sense. It was here that I stopped. Because I freaked out, haha, like any noob would I spose. I tried it again, same results, but stopped.

I'd prefer to tread carefully. I'm not a psychic (I'm only 18), or into the occult at all - in fact, I have a strong relationship with the biblical God. Therefore, I have no desire to blindly open myself up to, or become vulnerable - to the occurrences of the spiritual realm (though I know many of you may not acknowledge its existence). But for those who do, what experiences in the way of this have you had, concerning lucid dreams and the attaining of it? It doesn't matter what your background is.

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to getting into this thing a little more!

In regard to the 3rd paragraph... this is in no way spiritual..... and I would rec that you rather sleep and dream when trying to do it.... aside from that... your dreams transcends spiritual and technological aspects..... of....... okay.

But congratz, you should have some experience now to move on, go RC and just MILD at night at best.

I'm of the opinion that if mediums use similar methods - out of body experiences - trances etc, though not entirely the same (tho in imo, dangerous, and foolish), then there MUST be a sort of spiritual attachment to the process. Perhaps its that the consciousness links, ties in, physicality with the spiritual - I have no idea. But what I do know, I do tread carefully with things beyond my control.

However. That's my belief. I understand there'll be secular individuals around, who will disagree with the very principle. So I'm not specifically asking for their opinion on that particular matter, though I do appreciate whatever input.

I believe you were feeling the starting phase of an out of body experience. I would love to be able to come "out of my body" but I have the same problem as you. I get so far and then I feel as if I get pulled back in. I have never gotten out of my body completely but I keep trying.

As for the "spiritual" part of this, I believe you put yourself in a different realm. There is no way you can be harmed by anything but I do believe that you will be able to see/hear things outside of the physical world. I feel what this is what people fear the most when practicing this. They get so far and then turn back because they don't know what is happening and are afraid of what could happen.

As for lucid dreams... This does not have much to do with them unless you are trying to WILD. In this case, for me atleast, you need to focus more on the images you see instead of actually trying to come out of your own body.

I don't think a lot OF LD'ers are itnerested in OBE.... well at least I'm not haha..... since I don't think that it makes any feelings that I don't feel in LDS.... I think LDs are enough for me

Well think about this... Say you are fully in a lucid dream. You lay down in your lucid dream and then you decide to have an out of body experience while in your dream... What is it then? An out of body experience/astral projection or a lucid dream?

It still is a lucid dream...... since I have complete control over my dream... that's just easy if you know the concept out a spectator view. Ofcourse you need to get a lot of things down with LD before attempting it .. or even succeeding. I think.... since I'm waiting for one.... first thing ill do is just explore and keep calm..... and just experience it.

I thought I was trying to WILD! Which I thought was working...

If that was the beginning of an OBE, I'm not interested at all lol. Its not that its unnerving because its an 'unknown place' to me - its because I know too much about it - and how much trouble that sort of activity can really put you in.

What I'm saying is, there is no way in hell that I wish to detach anything from myself, or open up myself to real entities or places beyond the physical world - which I happen to believe exist, and to be malicious. Why? Because I know better than that.

      I just want to dream!

WILD is basically the same thing. Just wait for this phase to pass and keep relaxed. Just keep letting your mind flow on its own and keep reminding yourself of what you're doing. Eventually you'll plop right into one of your thoughts.
