I'm an utter newbie, today being the first day I even discovered it was apparently possible to acquire lucid dreams! I read a few of the techniques, and coincidentally feeling a little drowsy (being mid-afternoon), thought it'd be a good time to give it a whirl.
I was VERY surprised with the results. I sat in front of the laptop in the office chair, and closed my eyes. I reversed my breathing (I do quite a bit of singing, and remembered being told that the 'stomach drop' technique is what the body switches to when asleep). So by taking relatively deep breaths in this manner, ignoring any signals of discomfort (predominately my feet on the tiles)...and it only took a few minutes before my breathing went into auto-pilot and I began feeling very tingly - and my muscles weird. I certainly began feeling detached in a sense. It was here that I stopped. Because I freaked out, haha, like any noob would I spose. I tried it again, same results, but stopped.
I'd prefer to tread carefully. I'm not a psychic (I'm only 18), or into the occult at all - in fact, I have a strong relationship with the biblical God. Therefore, I have no desire to blindly open myself up to, or become vulnerable - to the occurrences of the spiritual realm (though I know many of you may not acknowledge its existence). But for those who do, what experiences in the way of this have you had, concerning lucid dreams and the attaining of it? It doesn't matter what your background is.
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to getting into this thing a little more!
