What counts as a Lucid Dream?

I've been thinking about it today. I mean can you count being lucid for a moment a lucid dream? Or would it be more of a lucid moment? How long can your lucidity be before it is classified as a "lucid dream" or instead of that what classifications must it be to be a "lucid dream"? Or do you not use lucid moment at all and just call every time you lucid a lucid dream.

For example, I had my first so called "lucid dream" last night (DILD). I wasn't lucid at the beginning but later on I realized what had happen around me and I become lucid. What felt like a few minutes as I tried to get in control (my vision was blurry). After that the dream ended and I had a brief moment of regular dreaming before waking up.

So would that small period of time of being lucid count as a lucid dream?

If you successfully made it to actually knowing you were dreaming in a dream, it's a lucid dream. If you lost lucidity or the dream ended, you didn't do a good job of stabilizing- but that falls under the "Did I Manage to Stay Lucid" heading, not the "Did I Manage to Realize I Was Dreaming" imo

I would say you need.... but pretty much in a comeplete sense

LD is when you realize you're dreaming... and well... you dream in "real time" definition and it doesnt feel as fast as normal dreams... and with the realization you are in control... I would say you did it, but didn't finish all the way through, but congratzz

Thanks for the answer, I'll add the count to my "Number of Lucid Dreams" below my sig.

Now I need to stable my dreams.
