      Wink Newbie!

Heya! I just signed up to this site, and i thought i should since i've been lurking for a few months now. I've never had an LD, or sleep paralysis or anything. I barely dream at all. The last dream i had was a few months ago
I tried to LD last night and the night before. I drank hot milk to help me sleep, had a paper and pencil (my temporary DJ), and i told my brain before i went to sleep that, "i was going to have an LD tonight". Well i didn't have one, and i didn't even dream at all. I do RC's not as often as i should, but i try to do them when i can. Can someone give me any tips, or techniques they used on their first time? Please and thank you!

Correction!! The last dream you remembered was a few months ago. You dream every night, and as you've expressed, you're having trouble in the recall dept. Try the Dream Recall tutorial, which covers the basics on how to remember you dreams so you can start having Lucids.

If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks for replying so quickly! I didn't know we dream every night um, i do have a few Q's. How long did it take for you to start being lucid? Are there any songs that helped you? and does having lucid dreams make you tired after having one??? Please and thanks!

From what I know, dream recall is your first step to lucid dreaming. Just keep at it, and try the tutorials that Snow Egypt referred you to.

Last night I told myself to have a lucid dream in Japan, where I taught some years back. Well, I didn't attain a LD, but I did take a dream plane to the island nation. I won't be frustrated, though, because I vividly recalled the dream.

      Just be patient. Take care.

No problem, and thanks for the Thanks.

Yep, we dream every night. Most of the world just doesn't care enough about dreams to remember them, which is why they think they don't dream often. Of course, we're different.

I learned about Lucid Dreaming in Feb. of 06 and had my 1st one in Aug. 06, so 7 months. Granted, I had more patience than most newbies staring out (and I still have that patience since my Lucids come every so often). I hope you don't have to wait that long, but if you do have to wait, you'll see it'll all be worth it when you have your first.

Any songs? None that I can think of. I learned about LD audio aids a little over a year ago, and those didn't do much for me. I tend to focus more on songs that get me into the dreaming mindset. A big one that was floating around here a couple of months back was Fireflies by Owl City. I still listen to it for inspiration, along with some Japanese songs I can't get enough of.

Tired?? Never!!! If anything, Lucid Dreams refresh and energize me. I have no problem getting up after a Lucid, whereas I'm sleepy for 30 minutes after I wake up from a normal dream.

      Welcome to Dream Views!

      One suggestion, about your mantra.

      BAD EXAMPLE:

"I am going to dream tonight/I am going to lucid dream tonight"
"I will be having a dream tonight/I will be having a lucid dream tonight"

      GOOD EXAMPLE:

"I am dreaming tonight/I am lucid dreaming tonight"

Try using the last one, and put your WILL on it. Hope it helps
