      Not quite new... but hello!

      Hello there all!
Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm not really new to LD, I've had lucid dreams since before I can remember, up until about 2 years ago. I had a really good grasp on dream control and every single one of my dreams was lucid; I even had a few rare (about 3 or 4) psychic dreams (the outcome was NOT good, you know... the whole too little too late type of thing)

I honestly didn't know I had lucid dreams until near the end of it all, when I finally researched and understood what it was I had the ability to do. The problem is, I had two very disturbing experiences, and I basically shielded myself ever since. But I believe I'm ready to continue and find out just exactly what happened some time ago.

It started with the feeling of having someone else in my dream, someone conscious and controlling. Here and there, things would happen, outcomes would change, no matter what I did. One example: I was at the pool, having fun with old friends. All of a sudden no one was at the pool aside from me, and a little boy all the way at the bottom, apparently having drowned. I dove in to go save him, he had dark brown hair in a bowl cut, and red swimming trunks on. He couldn't have been more than 8 or 9 years old. I pulled him out on the concrete, and began to do CPR. As soon as my mouth reached his, his eyes popped open.. they were large, almond shaped, and completely black. They had the knowledge of something beyond my comprehension, and I immediately woke myself up from the dream.

I had a few more dreams like that, very eerie feeling. But the last one I had was the last lucid dream, and the most disturbing:
I was in my old house, in the dining room. It was late at night, but a full moon. The moonlight shone into the room, and every chair besides mine was covered in shadow. I was seated at one end of the rectangle table, and "he" was seated at the other. We were having a polite conversation, about society and reality. Midway through the conversation was when I realized that he was... well the closest I can put it into words is death. But not in the black cloak-wearing, skeleton, reaper sort of way. He was dressed darkly, but well groomed and his manner was one of great stature. Near the end of the conversation, he asked me if I wanted to see what it felt like. By this time I felt like my mind had wandered off in the middle of the conversation and I wasn't sure what he meant. But he held out his hand and gave me a sly smile. I took his hand, while he guided me into the shadow. As soon as I entered, my heart stopped beating and I couldn't breathe.. almost like a prolonged heart palpitation. I closed my eyes, and I saw a thin, glowing white string dangling from up above somewhere, slowly raising higher and higher, out of my vision. After a short time, a matching blue string came from below and tied itself around the white one, pulling it back down. I opened my eyes and took a deep gasp for air, and he said "That's how it's done."

I've just recently started getting my dreams back, so I'm trying to focus on them and what they brought to me before. I didn't have any up until the day before the huge tsunami, then everything came flooding back... err, no pun intended

Sorry to make this post drag on, I guess I'm just long winded

You are either truly gifted or have naturaly trained yourself in the perfect sleeping technique for lucid dreaming! I would be a happier human being if I could have just ONE lucid dream a WEEK!

Either way, you are a lucky person! What are some of your sleeping habits - if you don't mind sharing? Do you get the recommended 8 hours? Do you fall asleep right away? Do you do any of the techniques covered on this site (MILD, WILD, etc)?
Any advice that may help someone who's only had a couple lucid dreams?

Looking forward to hearing more about your experiences, hope you find what you're looking for

Well to be honest, I never really trained myself in anything. I got more than the 8 hours most of the time. I did keep a dream journal, because I find as long as I write them down, I can remember them like it was yesterday even if I never open the journal back to that page again.

The best dreams were when I rested up very well (12+ hours) after some sleep deprivation beforehand. I know everyone has their own techniques, but I'll try to share what I can. Keep up on the dream journals, remember every detail... write them down in the middle of the night. If you feel the need to only draw, then draw. If you do try to wake yourself up in the middle of the night to induce a dream, don't use an alarm clock. The best way I found was to drink a LOT of water before bed for a natural wake up, until you know how to do it yourself. This might sound weird, but I felt that when I was affected by "outside stimulation" before I could analyze my own dream, a lot of the meaning and symbolism that I was linked to from my dream wore off before I realized it. (If you haven't noticed, rushed mornings and alarm clocks are my enemy )

I'm not an insomniac, I fall asleep right away in bed... the tough part is actually forcing myself to go. I feel the need to drain all of my energy before I finally hit the pillow. I never used any other techniques, as I never had to. Go with what feels right to you, and try not to get frustrated. Your subconscious is like a two year old, and we all know patience goes a long way.

Have you heard of catharsis? The more you learn to express yourself without putting all your thoughts through a filter into words, the better imagery you will have.

Nothing major was happening during that time... actually the dreams about death didn't upset me at all. If anything, they were very serene and not too intimidating. It was mainly the idea that someone other than me was conscious in my dreams, taking action.

      Welcome to DV!

Those dreams are quite interesting. It's cool to have dreams that are as vivid as that. It's kind of the same with me that dream-death doesn't really bother me.... unless someone is trying to kill me and I can't stop them. If you have any questions about lucidity or other stuff feel free to ask.
