Post Hey, and a quick intro!

      Hey guys.

Sorry if this is a bit lengthy, I like to type alot.

      Canadian, 20, M

Honestly, I didn't think this sort of thing was possible before today. I picked up a book on lucid dreaming earlier, and it's blowing my mind. I just had to search for a forums for it, and here I am.

Might sound kinda lame, but I always think of things like "if I could have one superpower what would I want?". Occasionally, I decided I wanted the ability to control my dreams. What could be more epic than that? And now i might be able to!

Time to become a fking superhero. (im my own mind at least)

I tend to remember a few dreams a week, and every couple weeks i'll have a lucid dream, though most of the time it rarely lasts longer than 30 seconds. Best I've managed was maybe 2 min, with very minor passive control. (I didn't even know what it was called before today lol)

I'm going to work on writing down my dreams and covering the exercises in the book to work towards regular lucid dreams. I likely won't post alot for now because I'm so inexperienced, but I'll definatly be browsing the forums and learning what I can. If you can recommend a good starter guide (very most basic one), I'm all ears.

I can't wait to share what I come up with later. (though chances are basically 100% the first lucid dream I get control of will turn into a big porno with me as the star)

I'll definatly enjoy my time here, my mind is reeling at the possibilities.

Nice to meet you all. o.o

Welcome to Dreamviews! Always glad to pick up new and excited members. My mind was also blown when I first found this site and read about all the things I could do with my dreams. Like you, I also had lucid dreams before, but didn't really know what they were called and definately couldn't even have imagined the potential.

You will definately be able to. Everyone can lucid dream. For some it takes longer than others, but if you put the effort into it you will be rewarded.

Nice. Lucids can actually last a very long time. I have had LDs that lasted a couple hours. Good stabilization techniques and self control (emotion-wise) can help extend those lucids. Just takes practice and experience.

The best way to start is by browsing through our tutorials section here on dreamviews. The link is in my signature. You will get a good overview and idea of how to achieve lucidity. Also, make sure you keep a dream journal (it doesn't have to be online, but make sure you write your dreams down in a notebook at least). At first strive for recall. DOn't get discouraged if lucidity doesn't come right away. WOrk on recall and the lucids will come. Don't hesitate to experiment. If you read about a technique give it a shot. Try different things and if something works keep doing it. Nothing with lucid dreaming is set in stone. Everyones mind is unique, and many things that work for some simply don't work for others.

I can't wait to share what I come up with later. (though chances are basically 100% the first lucid dream I get control of will turn into a big porno with me as the star)
Yeah, alot of my dreams still turn into pornos and I have been doing this for a while now . You really just can't help it sometimes, lol.

I'll definatly enjoy my time here, my mind is reeling at the possibilities.
      They are endless !

Nice to meet you all. o.o
Welcome again, and good luck to you. If you have any specific questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Also, if you want to get an idea of the possibilities, visit our Dream Journals section and read through some other members experiences. They can be very entertaining, plus they often provide ideas for exploring lucidity.

      Thanks yoshi.

Been praticing doing RCs randomly whenever I see something interesting. I see a guy run down the hall (no running!) so i do a RC. Someone I don't usually talk to talks to me, i do a RC. (discreetly doublechecking watch) I get near my place and see an ambulance, I RC. RCing randomly pops into my mind, so I RC.

Hopefully if I do it enough, it'll carry over into me trying to RC in my dreams when I see something.

      >.<

Very nice. I perform RCs in the same manor. When I see something out of the ordinary (like when I heard a knock at my door and a goat was randomly on my porch...it had escaped from somewhere), if I witness a very scenic view (like a waterfall, awesome sunset, etc.), or when something incredibly lucky happens (drop a quarter and it lands on its side, get four yahtzees per game in back to back games...I mean really, how the hell does my mom do that?)

Also, make sure when you are doing your reality checks, take a moment to ask yourself, "How do I know I'm not dreaming?" Then look around and answer your own question. Basically, the idea is that questioning reality in waking life will help you question reality in the dream state. I try to do this with every RC and it only takes a few extra seconds.
