Is this Lucid Dreaming or something else

From everything I've read I'm not completely sure mine are Lucid Dreams but I believe it is. I can control things in my dreams and I always know when I am dreaming. But I don't do it intentionally. It is something I have always done.

The other night I had a dream that aliens put a group of people in a movie theater, my husband & I were included. I told myself to go sit down beside my husband because I was standing across the room and to the back of the theater. The whole time I was watching as a 3rd person. I didn't like the route I was walking to my husband and I was afraid that from where I was standing that I wouldn't get a good sense of what was going on, I wouldn't be able to hear the conversation with my husband very well. So I then switched myself to this 3rd person body and walked over to my husband and sat beside him.

Often I will change myself from 3rd person to myself and back. I don't understand it.

Later there was something going on with the aliens that I didn't like the intended outcome so I "talked" to myself in my head while dreaming and changed what was going to happen. I decided that we had what we needed to protect ourselves, when at first we didn't.

Mostly I change my dreams when I don't like the intended outcome so I decide to change it. I've always known that I'm dreaming when I am and I've always dreamed in color and can feel and smell. Everyone looks at me like I have 5 heads when I tell them this. I didn't know that most people don't dream in color. I've only had one B&W dream that I ever knew about and it was a horrible nightmare.

Am I completely weird or is this what Lucid Dreaming is?

Lucid dreaming is being aware that you're dreaming while your dreaming. So you are having lucid dreams.

Most people here control there dreams more actively, or at least try to, instead of generally controlling the outcome of their dreams. Why would you go through all the trouble to protect yourself from the aliens, if you know that you're dreaming? Why don't you simply walk out of the theater and start flying, or whatever you would like to do? By definition you are having lucid dreams, but from what I've read you're not pursuing the limitless possibilities. You could do the impossible with more active control in your dreams. You might want to try that.

Personally, I dream in color and I think most people do.

Thanks! I don't like to change my dreams that much because I like to see where it will go - if that makes any sense.

It's nice to know that someone else pops into 3rd person sometimes. It reminds me of a videogame where I can see myself infront of my field of vision.

I can also see in colour in dreams, (most people do but don't remember it as well) and smell. as well as hear, since DCs can talk to you! I do believe most people dream in colour, many just don't pay ATTENTION to it.

Yeah, it is somewhat like a video game.

Glad to hear most people dream in color. Apparently I'm the only person in my family who does.

I'm starting to not feel like such a freak now.

I dream in color too, so you're not alone. It's actually very interesting that you're the only one in your family that does. You're also what's known in the Lucid Dreaming community as a Natural, so you get double "Cool" points for that.

      You're completely normal.

Often the colours are what most imprint on my memory in dreams - because of their unnatural vividness and surreal quality..

I sometimes go into 3rd person too, but usually it's when I stop being 'me' and take on another persona. It's like I'm following a character, rather than inhabiting the dream... Probably does suggest the influence of games...

I feel like God in a lot of my dreams, as though I am telling myself what to do at all times, and even looking down on myself from a higher viewpoint. I can also direct the actions of other people without even speaking a word.
And if I had been the one to dream about aliens, I would have definitely chosen to change things if I felt threatened. If not, then I would probably try to convince one to impregnate one of my friends. That'd be cool to witness.
