      Good evening!

Hello there. Basically, I'm an insomniac who is... more than a little unsettled by their dreams upon waking. My dreams are very vivid, but I have very little influence, and when I fully realize that I am dreaming I will myself awake, because I'm afraid of what I might think up by mistake.

If you're okay with me being a little nutty sounding upon summary (I just don't know how else to phrase it, I'm afraid), then I'm looking forward to meeting you~

Welcome to DreamViews! Lucid dreaming is a VERY good way to combat nightmares. Next time you realize your in a a dream, don't will yourself to wake up. If you do see something scary say "Remember this is a dream! MY dream, and I have nothing to be scared of!" Then with full confidence, kill the scary thing or fly away.
Please check out the tutorials and induction techniques! The community here is really nice and helpful, so if you have any questions just ask them! You can also Private Message a dream guide with a question. They are part of the staff who can help you! You should also start a dream journal, and read other people's dreams. It's a good way to boost your confidence! Sorry if this was a little long..good luck and hope to see you around!

Thank you kindly! Your advice is really helpful; I hadn't really thought of it that way. Confidence is probably the key word here. Writing a dream journal sounds fun, too. I have high hopes for this community.

      Once again, thank you!

No problem! Yeah confidence is the key! It may take a while for you to have your first lucid OR you may have it right away, just DON'T give up on it. Also dream recall is important, and dream journaling will DEFINITELY help! You should also make a sticky note and put it where you will see it when you wake up.The note should say "Dreams?" to help you remind you about your dreams.

      Hey welcome to DreamViews

Sounds like you could use help with dream control. Be sure to check out the Dream Control tutorial and then go to the Dream Content link. If you read about schemas, you can pretty much predict what would actually happen in your dream instead of what you think could happen.

Also. if you realize you're dreaming during a nightmare and it's a person/monster you can try being their friend. I've done it once and this guy that was terrorizing me suddenly turned into like my best friend after I shook his hand. It was pretty surprising.

Well yeah, good luck with your dreams

Don't wake yourself up! Instead, go ride flying polar bears along the Great Wall of China, and make love to three-headed goddesses in the center of the earth.
