The common misconception about MILDs is that it's "by chance." DILDs are by chance. But we have a famous MILDer on the forums... one of the administrators named Naiya who is able to have multiple LDs in a night... I wouldn't say that was a by chance thing. It's just training your brain It may seem like it's "by chance" at first because you don't just go from having 0 LDs to having 3 a night. It's like one in a million chance of that possibly happening.

Well, here's my philosophy on reality checks...
I question reality when something doesn't add up. For example, at work (on a night shift, when the building is empty), the elevator should be on the main floor, because I'm the only one who used it. I went to use the elevator at the start of one patrol and noticed it was on the 3rd floor, and I did not remember taking the stairs from the 3rd floor to the main from my last patrol.
I did a reality check. I looked at what I was wearing. My uniform. I remembered putting it on, and then I remembered over-sleeping today because I took some allergy meds.
Upon entering the elevator, I noticed that one of the drawings on the wall had been changed (someone added to it). I did a reality check again (I thought about how I'm feeling at the moment - I'm very achy and I feel heavy. Normally, I can't feel my body when I'm dreaming). I also wondered if my surroundings made logical sense. I concluded they did.
There is a Reality Check Tutorial http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=95033 which has some great ideas on things to look out for and try when you're dreaming.
You won't really know what works for you til you get the chance to try some things. I can't use a single thing from that tutorial, but it works really, really well for others.
As for dream signs, well this is where your dream journal comes in handy. In my day to day travels, I count anything as a dream sign that reminds me of dreaming. I could be waiting at a train station and see peace officers and it makes me think of dreaming. So, I reality check.
But my journal is what helps me remember and determine what has been appearing in my dreams lately. I've been dreaming of neighbouhood parties and BBQ's lately. So knowing that ups my chances of recognizing it when I encounter this situation in the future; be it real life or dream life.
The second step to that is remembering to remember It's all well and good knowing that BBQ parties are a dream sign, but I have to be able to remember to test my reality while dreaming. This part takes a while to develop, but this is why I like to incorporate all day long reality checking. Makes it easier to remember when dreaming, rather than looking for specific things
Anyways, this "remembering to remember" is called "Prospective Memory." The most common way to train your prospective memory is to choose a target or two every day (something new every day) and remember to reality check when you see it.
It could be something like long hair. Whenever your see long hair, you should remember to reality check. It's a good practice to make a list of potential occurances when you choose your targets. Like, "I'm going to the mall, I have a strong potential to see people with long hair there." At the end of the day, recount your successes and misses.

Lastly, I don't have any advice to give you on WILDs. I have not yet successfully had one, I very much doubt that I will ever try them again, so I will leave that up to the WILDing experts of the forums
