      Help!!

Heyy everyone I heard about lucid dreaming not very long and since then I have been excited about going to bed and I'm very confident I will have one and also determined

My problem is I don't exactly know what to do, as in I already have a dream journal and well that's about it actually, when I go to bed I try to get into sleep paralysis with little success.. anyway I want to know if there are any methods I could use to help me, I don't mind waiting though I want to know that I will have one soon enough and I'm not wasting my time on nothing

I appreciate all answers thank you!

PS- I normally wake up every night at 1 - 3 am is that a positive thing of LDing?
also I have some binoural beats I listen to them every night
Also I read the section for inducing LD's and I got some ideas but I think its better to get more explained explanation, I ll try any methods that are good if any suggested

I'm new to this as well but I will offer what help I have been taught by other members here...
You said you wake up at 1-3am - this could possibly be a good thing if you want to try Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming. Its where you wake up at around about that time (5 hours after falling asleep) and you go through sleep paralysis and transitions into a lucid dream (this is the one I am currently trying to attempt).

http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ead.php?t=9806 Heres the WILD tutorial I am following and trying out. It may help for you too. I think its pretty well explained and worth a try.

I use to listen to binoural beats too (iDoser - lucid dream), though it didn't do much for me the time I tried it. I need to buy new headphones soon and listen again cause I am interested in that method but for now I'm sticking with WILD. Everyones different though and other techniques may work better for you.

Anyway, hope that answers at least a question or two on your mind. Good luck LDing!

Cute red hood come walk with me, leave your room mate friend

What i have noticed is that people who haven't been able to LD yet are all running wild on the WILD method. Probably because that is something you can do right of the bat. But it is a method which is quite hard. I had some succes with it, but i find DILD to be much easier for succes. Yes, indeed, you have to be already dreaming for it to work, but seriously, starting out with LD's and going WILD with your first attempts is bound to fail. You have to learn, know and recognize your dreams for it to succeed.
Some people hear count their LD's in their signature, and if you look at those numbers you notice WILD isn't among the most succesfull methods. Adjust you strategy the same way. DILD works better. It only takes more (or perhaps a lot) patience. WILD is for the advanced dreamers a good method imho, but if you start out with LD's it might not be for you yet.

I would try increasing your dream recall. I'm guessing it's cool you wake up between those times because if you had a few dreams before then, you can record them in your dream journal.

Thanks for all the replies, I ll sort of half it - I ll attempt WILD's, DEILD and DILD
Since WILD's and DEILD's are pretty close together it wont be too hard

Anyways I guess I ll have to improve dream recall to get the most out LDing xP

The WILD method sounds easy but I can imagine it wouldn't be a very quick method to learn but its still a nice try
As for the DILD I think its more based on effort and time put into it, I understand it as staying focused on LDing will lead to a DILD which is pretty simple and I guess I ll rely on chance with it

Either way I'm determined and I wont stop till I achieve my first LD!
Thanks again for the replies :]

Personally, I'm a fan of MILDing, but it's a technique for the patient You're not going to start out having LDs every night... it might be a few weeks before you have your first one. But MILD is a VERY effective technique, it's popular amongst much of the community here and it's easy for beginners

      MILD Tutorial - http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=65458

I would suggest that whichever technique you decide to choose (here's the tutorials forum http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...splay.php?f=25) that you stick with one technique consistently for a couple of weeks rather than bouncing around. I did a technique bounce about a month ago and I had the worst dry spell void of lucid dreams that I've ever had in my life

Ahh yeh MILD's are pretty simple and I don't mind waiting a couple of weeks or more x] sooo what steps could I follow to make a MILD possible, I read the tutorial but I want to know generally stuff like:
      1. How I could perform reality checks while I'm in class/publicly
      2. Basically how I will recognize a dream sign and get myself into the process

I think its a great method but it sounds much more by chance, that's why I'm particularly interested in WILDing though if someone could give me basic instructions I wouldn't mind trying to MILD for a while xP

PS- The tutorial helps me outline what I have to do but I'm looking more for steps from a expert, sorry if I sound dumb x.x

The common misconception about MILDs is that it's "by chance." DILDs are by chance. But we have a famous MILDer on the forums... one of the administrators named Naiya who is able to have multiple LDs in a night... I wouldn't say that was a by chance thing. It's just training your brain It may seem like it's "by chance" at first because you don't just go from having 0 LDs to having 3 a night. It's like one in a million chance of that possibly happening.

Well, here's my philosophy on reality checks...

I question reality when something doesn't add up. For example, at work (on a night shift, when the building is empty), the elevator should be on the main floor, because I'm the only one who used it. I went to use the elevator at the start of one patrol and noticed it was on the 3rd floor, and I did not remember taking the stairs from the 3rd floor to the main from my last patrol.

I did a reality check. I looked at what I was wearing. My uniform. I remembered putting it on, and then I remembered over-sleeping today because I took some allergy meds.

Upon entering the elevator, I noticed that one of the drawings on the wall had been changed (someone added to it). I did a reality check again (I thought about how I'm feeling at the moment - I'm very achy and I feel heavy. Normally, I can't feel my body when I'm dreaming). I also wondered if my surroundings made logical sense. I concluded they did.

There is a Reality Check Tutorial http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ad.php?t=95033 which has some great ideas on things to look out for and try when you're dreaming.

You won't really know what works for you til you get the chance to try some things. I can't use a single thing from that tutorial, but it works really, really well for others.

As for dream signs, well this is where your dream journal comes in handy. In my day to day travels, I count anything as a dream sign that reminds me of dreaming. I could be waiting at a train station and see peace officers and it makes me think of dreaming. So, I reality check.

But my journal is what helps me remember and determine what has been appearing in my dreams lately. I've been dreaming of neighbouhood parties and BBQ's lately. So knowing that ups my chances of recognizing it when I encounter this situation in the future; be it real life or dream life.

The second step to that is remembering to remember It's all well and good knowing that BBQ parties are a dream sign, but I have to be able to remember to test my reality while dreaming. This part takes a while to develop, but this is why I like to incorporate all day long reality checking. Makes it easier to remember when dreaming, rather than looking for specific things

Anyways, this "remembering to remember" is called "Prospective Memory." The most common way to train your prospective memory is to choose a target or two every day (something new every day) and remember to reality check when you see it.

It could be something like long hair. Whenever your see long hair, you should remember to reality check. It's a good practice to make a list of potential occurances when you choose your targets. Like, "I'm going to the mall, I have a strong potential to see people with long hair there." At the end of the day, recount your successes and misses.
      ---
Lastly, I don't have any advice to give you on WILDs. I have not yet successfully had one, I very much doubt that I will ever try them again, so I will leave that up to the WILDing experts of the forums

      3?! That's my dream.. xD

Thanks for your reply I get it more now, I really like the idea of having a key object to look for to do reality checks, makes it seem much more simpler

I'm going to stick with MILDing from now because after having it explained it really does make it look easy, I actually had a dream yesterday relating to what happened that same day, it wasn't really a event though this is what happened

I bought a couple of games and was waiting for them to arrive through mail, one came that day and I was really happy and I was saying over and over "what a great deal" "amazing quality" "I got this too cheap" and stuff anyways in my dream I was constantly walking into a store and each time I went into it there was a guy and he would be offering me a tree to buy and every time he would I would start saying "what a great deal" "amazing quality" etc

I don't know if this has anything to do with my day at all but it could be for all I know, I think this could be an example of DILD / MILD in noticing the things around you in real life then going into your dreams

      Sorry if I'm wrong xP

Anyways thanks for your reply again, really appreciated
