Thread: Trying Calea, Need Help!

Backstory:
I got some Calea Z. a while ago. I've done some research into it and I recently tried some. First, after an allergy test, I made a tincture. The first try didn't work, I blamed bad measurements. Next I adjusted the amount and still nothing. Then I made capsules. I started with 2 caps with around 500 mg each, nothing. Then I went to 6 caps, nothing. I tried a tea with 3 grams then I ate the leftover material, nothing. Then I went to 9 caps, still nothing. In fact in all of the tries I only had one recallable dream, far less than normal! For whatever reason Calea seems to be acting as a dream suppressant!

The questions:
Has anyone had this problem before (both dream suppressant and non-functional calea)?
What other methods are successful? (I've heard smoking is good but I'm rather apposed to burning my lungs. Is a bong effective?)
I've heard about reverse tolerance with Calea, is this usually the case when it doesn't work?
Does anyone have more information on Calea?

I've never tried Calea... but I do know that smoking pot isn't good for lucid dreaming, or remembering your dreams... it can make it a lot harder. I don't really have more information for you, but welcome to DV!

Where did you get it? How old is it? Are you sure that it is good quality and that it is in fact Calea Zacatechichi? Do you trust the source? It might be bunk. Did it taste super super bitter and shitty?
Try getting some more from a different source.

Why do people take so many drugs to have lucids?

Stick with the good ol' PCP mayne, you won't need them LDs anymore

I have no idea how old it is or what its quality is. I got it from IAMSHAMAN which I've heard is very reputable. I wasn't sure that is was Calea because I didn't think it tasted horrible. It was bitter but I wasn't going to throw up. I even started to like the taste after a while.

i tried calea once. i drank the tea (the nastiest thing youll ever drink) and then i went outside and smoked a bowl of it. i had the Weirdest dream that night.

i got an ounce of calea for $5 from bouncing bear botanicals, a pretty reliable source for legal entheogens.

this thread has re-sparked my interest in calea, im gunna just smoke a joint of it before bed tonight and see how it effects my dreams. ill come back here to post my results

alright so i smoked a joint before bed last night and after a couple of strange dreams that i dont really remember i had a lucid dream! it was really fun i was at work and i immediately realized i was dreaming and started flying all around the store.

There are many fake versions going around of calea. I've just done alot of reading on it

Make sure it's the right thing. It has to taste bitter. If it's fake it doesn't taste very bitter at all. I've just ordered some seeds. The fake calea has . . . a peppery smell to it when you rub the leaves and tastes good and somewhat sweet.

So how would you describe the smell of real calea. All I can think to describe mine is herby or tea-like.

Read a little on that forum. The fake calea smells like a pepper smell when you brush the leaves...it is so bitter bitter enough to make you puke if you drink it and have a weak stomache. The fake calea also looks fairly different . . hmmm. It's not very bitter and the pepper smell are the two biggest signs... Leaf shape and venation looks slightly different too. along with the flower.. Check out the forum its full of info on this subject.

I was getting paranoid after getting my calea today. It looked similar to all the picture I found of it dried, but still wasn't convinced. I thought for a second it did smell like pepper, but then I tasted one leaf, and it took 10 minutes to get the taste out of my mouth. lol

That isn't a failproof test of course, and I haven't tried it for lucidity, but damn it's a good start. lol
