Hello all, im new and I have a question

Hi, I just finished reading all the great info on the site and I have to say I was just blown away! I had NEVER in my life heard that this was possible, much less that entire sites are dedicated to it! What I wanted to ask is basically this:
everyone says that the sky is not the limit when it comes to what you can do, but I was thinking, what if what I wanted to do is make myself forget its a dream? be able to change everything and do anything, and yet not know that its a dream? wouldnt that defeat the purpose? because as I see it, the moment you forget its a dream is the moment you cant control it anymore right? so in essence you will always know that you are dreaming, and that is something you will never be able to control.

Anyways, its a dumb question because thats not what I would want to do in the first place, but I was just curious haha.

It's certainly possible. I have non-lucid dreams a lot of the time that are very epic and amazing...

There is no limit to the imaginative powers of your dreams!

      Definitely!

My advice is also to always keep a dream journal. You could be having the most epic dreams and not remember them.

I read the advice on the journal, but what I didnt understand is, do I have to write down every dream I have and remeber in one night? or is just ok? I guess more will help me determine my dream signs faster huh?

If you sometimes feel like not writing down every dream you have because it would take some time or just don't want to write it all down, just use some short notes. One word can really make you remember a lot. Sometimes I'd wake up and write one dream down, read it, and see one word in what I wrote down and remember a whole other dream I didn't even know I had. It all depends on what you like. There is also a DJ on the computer you can download. Check that out too.

      good luck and welcome.

Hmm...well, by definition, a lucid dream is a dream in which you realize you're dreaming. Dream control is really sort of a separate issue. Realizing that it is a dream typically serves as the main focal point, reminding you that you have total control so you don't get caught up in the dream plot and lose control.

If I had to take a stab at it, I'd say that what you're trying to do would be quite difficult for most people, or at least a decent number of them. That said, I don't see why it couldn't be possible.

wow thanks for the great advise guys! I havent been at this for more than a month and I've alreaady LD'd like 3 times!! how is that possible? I havent kept a Dream Journal, haven't identified a single one of my dream signs, havent in general had time to practice ANYTHING that I've read in this great site, and yet I've had 3! I really dont see how this is possible; I suffered a somewhat debilitating "accident" I guess u might call it recently (heart problems) and ever since I came home it started, and its not that I can control anything that happens in them, like Mario92 said, it appears LD and dream control are two completely different things, but still, could just thinking so much about this topic have caused me to gain lucidity without trying? If so I really dont want to get my hopes up that it will be so easy in the future, I'd already made up my mind that it would be a long and complicated journey!! thanks all!

If you've ever had a dream where you actively realize you're dreaming (the key is actively...passively muttering "I think I'm dreaming" without actually realizing it typically doesn't count), you've had a lucid dream.
