      Control and Deja vu?

I'm trying to gain more control in my dreams. I often kind of know that I'm dreaming, like I'll know that I can to certain things in the dream that I can't do in waking life, but I usually still go along with the dreams plot and forget to try anything else. :< In addition, I often know what is going to happen in my dreams, and I even think this is because I have some dreams more than once. Also, I have many places that I visit more than once, and the same types of things happen. I'm starting to get to know what my dream world looks like and how to get around (one of the reasons is because many of the places look similar to places I know in my waking life). Sometimes I remember powers from previous dreams when I'm dreaming and try to use them again. Right now the powers I use most often are flying, controlling fire, and giving myself wings or changing my appearance in some other way, or changing the appearance of other people and objects.

This is one of my most lucid dreams (btw, I didn't start from the beginning)
One time in a dream I was being chased by an evil creepy kid and some ninjas. I ran down a staircase to escape them and came to a coded door. I couldn't remember the numbers fast enough except for the numbers 4 and 3, but then I realized that I was dreaming. There was another door that led outside instead of down so I went through that one. Once I went out of the door I tried to fly away, since I knew that I could, but because I was still frightened of the people chasing me I couldn't fly that well (whenever I'm scared in a dream I become weak). The people that were chasing me then came through the door, but I was already fairly high in the air. Since my flying wasn't going well I stopped on the roof of the house for a moment and then jumped off and started flying again. One of the ninjas also jumped on the roof, but they couldn't reach me anymore because I was too high in the air. I was now excited because I thought I was going to escape them, but then I hit agains something in the air. e_o My enemies laughed and said that there was invisiable dome around the whole house and yard, and they were right. :'( Hitting into the dome frustrated so I started to lose power and sink towards the ground.... and I'm to lazy to write the rest of the dream. :3

Another thing I was wondering is.... if I know that I can use all sorts of crazy powers in my dreams, such as flying, and that I know that the places are not the same as in the waking world (or at least most of the time), could that be considered being lucid? My dreams are never very realistic so it's usually pretty easy to tell. Also, sometimes when I do think that I'm awake I end up realizing that it's a dream because I won't quite recognize anything, such as when I've dreamt about school. What often ends up happening when I dream that I'm in my school is I get lost and become late for all my classes, but then I realize that the reason that I can't find any of my classes is because the place looks nothing like my school. e__o Usually when I realize that it's a dream I end up flying, and I fly a lot.... like pretty much every night, and that's what I ended up doing the first time a realized that I wasn't really in school. :3

What I would like is to be able to get out of my usual dream area. I don't want to go to the same places over, and over again, and I want to learn how to share dreams with others. What do you think I should try? What type of people go into the adoption program? Does anyone else have problems with deja vu or being stuck dreaming about the same places (but I sometimes do go to alternate dimensions, or something of that sort)? :/

      Well..

if I know that I can use all sorts of crazy powers in my dreams, such as flying, and that I know that the places are not the same as in the waking world (or at least most of the time), could that be considered being lucid?
Using powers alone doesn't equate to being lucid. Lucidity only means being aware that it's a dream at all. It's possible to use a number of "super" abilities and never realize you're actually dreaming, in which case it would be a normal dream.

As for your other questions.. You can attempt to teleport to other places, which amounts to little more than closing your eyes and visualizing in detail your destination. You can use whatever else makes it easy for you, as everyone seems to have their own preferred method. Opening portals is one way to do it, either by creating the portal straight out of thin air or by using an existing doorway and expecting your destination to be on the other side. If you're a Harry Potter fan, you can use a portkey. You can use mirrors, too. Flying from your normal place to some other physical location is, again, another option. Frequenting the same places in a dream isn't uncommon, and it's more or less that a person visits a place with the same theme (ex: always dreaming about being in the city, or in space, or gardens, or a video game world, and so on).

Mmmm the adoption program... It's a little rusty right now. By that I mean that there are plenty of applications and some people get adopted, but there are no promises. You're open to put an application up if you wish and see if anyone will take you up, and/or you can continue to frequent the forums and read/respond to other peoples' threads. That's a pretty good way to pick up on a lot of information and different viewpoints. Since you brought up shared dreaming I can say that you'll get information out of some and not others (it's not a widely held belief that it's even possible, but many have claimed to experienced sharing a dream with another person, and on multiple occasions). Stick around and engage everyone in conversation. Much to be learned, myes.
