      Unhappy Super ironic-read this.

Ok so to start off I am going to say this, my mom is always asking me about what I'm doing and thinking about ect. So I tell her about LD. I wake up this morning and write in my dream journal, walk in the kitchen and she tells me that last night before she went to sleep, she thought about LD, turns out that in one of her dreams she remembered to look at her hands, she did and they were backwards, she concluded that she was dreaming, but got to excited and woke up. Now my question is, is that why after days of doing RC and thinking about LD ect... I can't do that yet, but her very first night she was able to become lucid.

HAHAHA OH WOW ... I'm not trying to make you feel bad, here, with my laughing - I just can't help it. That's the kind of irony the comedy world lives for.

Well, I guess for an actual reason, your mum might have simply gotten lucky, and remembered to do an RC while she was dreaming, even though you didn't.

Keep dedicating yourself to your RCs, and make sure you're always aware of your surroundings, and I'm sure you'll get it too

Oh, and also I'm hoping you're not too angry; if you are, try and see the lighter side of this. From where I'm standing, this situation is hilarious.

      Good luck.

Haha yeah, I'm not as mad as I am frustrated, I just don't understand, she told me that she remembered to RC in her dream which means she could talk to her brain while dreaming, for me, I can't think or control at all while I dream.

Ah that sucks. You need to keep positive and have patience. For some people it takes weeks or even months before their first LD. There's nothing wrong with this because it's just that they aren't easily suggestible, which is a good thing in some respects. But keep at it. It WILL happen. That's what you need to keep thinking. It WILL happen.

Placing such an emphasis on trying can be obstructive to just simply doing. Maybe she went about it calm/passive, and it was easier for her to engage her brain.

I know people who were hellbent on attaining lucidity. Then they just gave up trying, and they had a Lucid Dream almost instantly. That kind of experience helped them to understand how their particular mind works. Kind of just, going with the flow - rather than fighting the current. The sleeping brain is something to be worked with gently. (IMO)

Hahah, I remember my first ever lucid dream. It was similar to your mom's. That very night on the day when I knew lucid dreaming, I had one that was short as well. I did three different reality checks consecutively and then I woke up. That time, I did not know yet about different techniques, hypnagogia, false awakenings, dream stabilizing and more, yet I had a quick lucid dream in an instant. And now that I know about those things, I am having a hard time this time to achieve another lucid dream...

Why should it make you mad? Learning to concentrate takes practice. And also think of this, it is written in the Judeo-Christian scripture that lucid dreaming would be taken from man for a very long time. So, are you certain that the failure to achieve state is wholly yours?

For example, I use to be able to enter state quite easily, but I was told some time ago, about the death of one of my sons and that I would enter a long period of darkness that would last until a certain point. Try as I might, I have not been able to enter state--at least not any of significance. But, I keep trying, perhaps it means nothing at all. I was told this before I even met the woman I married and had that son by, and my son has been dead some, what? seven years now.

I do not get too concerned about it, as what I learned previous I have not yet understood enough of.

      Everyone is different.

It is common to get people who get it first time without even trying, and then other people try real hard and don't get one for ages.

Just keep trying, you will get there. Don't give up hope.

I have had a lot of experience's like that of your mom, waking up out of excitement,i continue to have them often, usually by trying to enter a dream already aware.
mastering lucidity in dreams takes a lot of practice and patience
you also have to realize that your dreams always have the upper hand, and only let you remain lucid when they(how do you refer to dreams?it ,they?) see fit

      Thats too funny.
Everyone learns at a different rate. For people like me, my first LD was an accident. I spent years hoping each night that I'd get one, not aware you could induce them until about a year a go. For others, it can take weeks or even months of practice. Just keep up the DJ, play around with methods and tutorials on the forum, and know that each night you go to sleep you are very likely to have a lucid dream. Good luck!
