      Help me continue my quest

      Hi guys,

I’m a new LD wannabe who started big and failed minutes after ☹.

The BACKGROUND: A series of unfortunate events has changed my life lately, pushing me on the path of seeking answers beyond the physical reality. In this quest, I’ve recently came across the LD. Few movies, few articles, few books … and I knew for sure that LD was THE THING I was looking for, and I will finally get some reliable answers.

The METHOD: Do you remember the X-Files “I want to believe”? Well, that’s me. But, also, I’m the biggest skeptic I know. I tried a lot of “esoteric” stuff (meditation, biofeedback, binaural beats, breathing…). “I know they work, but just don’t work for me”. Same thing when I started with LD few weeks ago. Knowing very few things about the LD techniques, I decided to test William Buhlman’s (relax and then imagine 3 objects in the other room…) combined with an alarm timer I found on lucidology website. So, I put an hour of relaxing music on my ipod followed by the “4 minute timer”, and then the magic happened…

The STORY: I was already sleeping when I heard the first beep. Then another beep, and another. I thought “yeah right, another dead end” taking the earplugs off and put them on the floor (at least I thought so). But then comes the fun part. I heard the beep in my ears AGAIN! I checked and the earplugs were still on ☺. Again I put them on the floor and after a while, I heard the beep for the third time. This time, a buzzing sound started in my head and my whole body was vibrating (I later read about this vibrations, as a sign of the astral body separation). The weird thing is that although I was experiencing these vibrations for the first time, they seemed familiar to me. Then my feet were lifting and unfortunately I got scared and I grabbed the bed sheets with one hand. My body was floating at 45 degrees, feet up and the head on the pillow. At this point, my girlfriend that was sleeping next to me, held me and my feet went down. I opened my eyes from mind-blowing experience that kept me awake that night with a mixed emotion of joy and fear.

The NEXT ATEMPTS: The morning after, I read all that comes to my hand regarding LD, astral projection, OBE… and I come up with the idea that I first must overcome my fear by mastering the vibration in the morning. And so I did. The vibrations came shortly after I heard the beep, and then other vibrations… I was SO VERY HAPPY! I thought that everything is under control. But, unfortunately, it wasn’t…

The FAILURE: I was very confident but the next attempts were a total failure. Either the beep didn’t wake me at all, or wake me “too much” making me unable to get back to sleep for a while. I tried in the morning, 5 hours after getting in bed, nighttime, as I was falling asleep. Nothing seemed to work. Then I tried a different approach through WILD, MILD… Nothing. Either I was going to deep sleep or I was unable to get any. Now I’m getting back to “my old technique” as the only one that worked for me. But still nothing ☹

The QUESTIONS: What is your advice? Should I stick to “my method”? Should I try a “non familiar” one? Should I wait for things to “resettle” and then try again the next week or so?

The THANK YOU’S: Thank you for reading my annoyingly long story and I hope your experience will help me “dreaming” again.

Um, overuse on the quotation marks, but that's forgivable. Anyway, I would recommend trying the DILD method, combined with what worked for you in the past. Remember, you will never have LD's every night, and failure is normal.
      I'm back!
