Well, it's 11:03 and in a few minutes i'll be going to bed. Any tips on beginning a lucid dream?

Last night I attempted lucid dreaming. I saw on 4chan that an easy way to induce a lucid dream is to lay there and not twitch. Supposedly, your body will paralyze itself and you will be aware that you're dreaming. So I tried it, and half way into it I began to hear strange and scary noises. I quickly moved to stop it. I've heard stories of people seeing things besides their bed, or entities entering their rooms. So any help will be appreciated
