      Dream Recall. Having trouble.

The first night I started my DJ, I was able to write down a paragraph and was able to remember the dream I had. However, the next night, I only remembered a few details and everything else was fuzzy, and now I can't remember any of my dreams at all when I wake up. :S
I'm sure something like this has been posted before, but if anyone has any tips on dream recall, that'd be most helpful. Thank you.

Well Dragonworkz, I do not have a solution for this but it happens to me as well. Sometimes you get into a dry spell and just simply can not remember a dream. I just came out of a 4 day dry spell and this morning remembered 4 dreams with good detail. What I do is, When I wake up, I lay still, thinking of people I know, Places I know ect ect. This is actually how you will remember most of your dreams. The other day I was watching TV, a commercial about schools comes on, all of a sudden I remember a dream I had the night before about school. So what I am saying is, you will go through dry spells, and you will go through OMGWTF amazing details I remember everything spells lol. Just try what I do when you wake up, It works ^.^

Huh. Okay. If you say so.... I wake myself up at certain periods of the night, (I time it with when the REM period is stronger) and I'm able to wake up and remember the dream I was having. Lately, that hasn't been working. I need one of those OMGWTF amazing details I remember everything spells. xD

Ah. That's why I love my alarm clock. X3 I wake up, try to remember as much as I can, write a little stuff down in my DJ, go back to sleep.
      I wish that'd happen again. ><

Maybe you should try just going a night without waking yourself up in the middle. Maybe you kind of got your brain in a pattern of waking up in the middle of the night, which somehow hinders your dream recall (you never know). What sometimes works for me is really relaxing when I'm trying to go to sleep. Like not just shutting your eyes and just drifting off, but consciously relaxing yourself. I did that the other night and the next morning I woke up once and remembered a huge epic dream (4 frickin pages in the DJ), went back to bed then woke up again and remembered another big long dream (shorter but with a better story).

It was amazing then but didn't work too well last night. I think it's best to shake things up, keep your brain guessing. Good Luck!

kevojy: Thanks! That helps. I'll try that, and see if anything changes.

Im new here as well but i've recently experienced the same thing. i remembered 1-2 dreams everymorning for the first week i started. then i just went on a 3 day dry spell where i didnt remember anything. however the following morning i remembered 3 dreams in detail which is something i hadnt been able to do yet. What ive been doing most nights, is coming on this site about an hour before bed, and i'll just read information and peoples posts etc etc. i think all that info right before bed drills lucid dreaming into my brain. also when i get into bed i'll just repeat a mantra over and over before i fall asleep. something along the lines of, "I'll recognize my dream signs and i'll remember my dreams when i wake up".
It really seems to help me, because i know on 2 of the nights that i didnt recall my dreams, i didnt visit this site and i forgot to do my mantra's before i fell asleep...
