Variation in amount of dreams recalled

Sometimes, I can even remember 5 dreams in one night, but sometimes there are days in a row where I can't recall a single dream.
Why is this? I want to recall some dreams every night.
Also, sometimes I set random alarms at night to recall dreams but when it goes off i realize i cant remember anything of a dream so i go back to sleep.
Also I feel better rested when i remembered some dreams. If I don't remember any dreams, I usually am still tired.

Well cat, I do not have a solution or a reason why this happens but it happens to me, for a week or so my recall will be incredible and I can recall like 6 dreams a night, and then for 3 or so days I cant recall a single dream, like now for the past 3 days I have had ZERO recall. So, sorry I cant help, just wanted to let you know that your not alone on this.

It's just a matter of practice and consistency.

Dream recall can be tricky, but once you dream journal every single night for a longer period of time, it'll become great.

My suggestion is that you go to sleep at around the same time every night. That helps me a lot.

I have been told that, in order to have better and more dream recall, to have a pen and paper sitting next to your bed. When you wake up, lay there for a minute or less and think about your dream. Then write down what you remember. Hope this might help.
