I have a question about dreaming

I have been lucid dreaming since I was 4. Tthe other month I just had what would be termed my first "false awakening" dream except for the fact I didn't wake up until that dream ended. So where am I excetly in the dreaming mode (I can have lucid dreams ((I know I am dreaming)) but rarley can control them and not wake up from a false awakinging dream until after the dream.)? What I am trying to ask how come during my first "false awakening" dream I didn't wake up until after the dream ended.
