As Linkster said, it's not the dreams that are making her tired. It's possible that she might not be getting enough non-REM sleep, not sleeping deeply enough. Is she getting enough sleep on a regular basis? It's possible that she just needs to adjust her sleep schedule. Also, if she's not on a somewhat regular sleep schedule, that might be causing her to sleep poorly. The body does best when it knows when to go to sleep and when to wake up and when one goes to bed at irregular intervals all the time, it doesn't know what to do and you won't feel rested.
The only way I can see it being a problem with the dreams is if they're nightmares or stressful dreams that she's having all the time. Otherwise, I'd say it's physical and not mental. If it's a continuous problem (more than a month or so), I'd recommend seeing a doctor. I'm not an expert (and I doubt any of us here really are), so I'd say that if this problem doesn't go away, look into seeing someone who could help. You shouldn't have to deal with not being able to sleep, especially when you're young. I'm young (25), so I know
Best of luck
