Thread: In how many Languages can you say 'hello' or 'hi'

I know some more but I wasn't sure exactly so I didn't include them.

Japanese - isn't so simple there is no real standard hello. The greeting changes depending on the environment and hierarchy status of the person you're speaking to.

If you are introduced to someone for the first time in a professional environment then you use "Hajimemashite".
you can use "Domo" for acquaintanceship, co workers, friends and sometimes family (depending on the situation) if the environment is more relaxed. Domo is extremely vague and can be used many different ways but it's the most informal way of saying hello.

The others are time of day specific.
Good Morning - "ohayo gozaimasu"
Good Afternoon - "Konnichiwa"
Good Evening - "Konbanwa"
Hello on the phone - "Moshi Moshi"
