Interesting! But shouldn't this maybe be in the Lounge, or something?

Seeing this thread actually caused me a temporary fit of mirth. The reason for this is because not so long ago I had a lucid dream in which I was zooming at great speeds through our solar system, passing all of the planets (although Jupiter was missing, or possibly at the opposite end of its orbit), and as I got to the outskirts of the solar system I saw Pluto. I passed it and saw ANOTHER planet after it. I did consider this to be odd, but nothing odder than what I've had in other LDs. Still something to chuckle over though. I may have even posted this in the Lucid Experiences, I'm not sure.
Never stop searching for truth. In your search you may think you have found it, and perhaps you have, but if you hold on tightly to a single thread it will fray and it's greater meaning will become lost. There is always more truth stretching deep beneath the surface that promises to reveal ever greater the infinite, interwoven fabric of truth, woven in the looms of Heaven.

Its just a big ice rock and there are tons of them. The big thing about this one was that its bigger than pluto, while the rest are all smaller. A lot of people even argue over pluto however, a lot of people don't really think its a planet.

I think that the whole idea of "planets" and "moons" is kind of outdated. Someday I think that objects like Earth, Venus, Luna, Europa, Titan, Io, etc. will be considered one thing; the gas giants and brown dwarfs will be considered tiny stars unable to reach the threshhold of nuclear fusion; and maybe Pluto, Charon, and all those other icy rocks will be considered their own thing. Of course, perhaps their won't be a clear-cut distinction between the first and third group, or likely there will be more catagories classified. I kind of think this way because I predict that in the future we will find more life on gas giant moons than on Earth-like planets (but I could definitely be wrong about this!).

Of course, there will always be the idea of what orbits what (planet/moon distinction), but that is kind of irrelevant to what something actually IS, in my opinion.

Anyway, I think that the reason scientists stick with the whole planet idea is because they find it easier to drum up public enthusiasm that way. They can say, "Oh boy! We found a new planet around a distant star!" and everyone finds it more significant than "We found something like Jupiter (which would not be seen as similar to Earth by the public, more like a brown dwarf) going around a distant star!" And of course the search for the tenth planet (now eleventh) also draws funding.

it's not a kuiper belt object

And besides, Sedna isn't really a planet. it's just a part of all that oort cloud poop. it's too far away to be classified as kuiper belt poop.
