Well you'd be asking the brothers, not the doors and they're not connected in any way, heh. And what question would that be, eh? Heh. Until the question itself is stated in the manner needed can't really say it's been solved, eh?

Sorry about the "doors" thing, I started to read the riddle and recognized it so I stopped reading it and refered to the version of the riddle I had seen on TV.

You ask the brother on the left what the brother on the right would answer if you were to ask that bother (left) if he stood in front of the door to safety.

eh... something like that, then do the opposite

ME: Brother on the left, if I say you are the door to safety, would your brother agree?
LEFT BROTHER(safety):No, he would not.
--or--
ME: Brother on the left, if I say you are the door to safety, would your brother agree?
LEFT BROTHER(death):Yes, he would.

Alright well to be precise, you pick one door to point at and ask the following:

Would your brother point me to this door if he wanted me to die?

Both answers will be the same and if they are "no" then the door you pointed to leads to death, if "yes" then it's the way out.
The explanation: given that the door you pointed at leads to death then the lying brother wouldn't point you to it if he wanted you to die and thus the truth telling brother would answer "no"; the truth telling brother on the other hand would indeed point you to that door if he wanted you to die but asking the lying brother about it results in a "no" as he obviously enough lies.
Works similarly vise-versa: given that the door you poitned at leads to safety the lying brother would point you to it (since the question states that he would want you to die) and thus the truth telling brother will answer "yes"; the truth telling brother then wouldn't point you to this door but asking the lying brother about it results in a "yes".

The question above is pretty much in the simplest phrasing though I've heard more complicated constructions of it every now and then.
