Of course being British I have a natural hate for Argentina, but man they really took the bacon this time.

I mean seriously, every time an Argentinian was barely touched by an Ivorian, he collapsed in 'agony' clutching shins, head, feet etc.

Even in extra time, the funking Argentinians were taking substitutes reeeeeeeeeeeaaallly slowly, just incase they hadn't pissed us off enough.

I KNOW!!!! That match was so unfair to Ivory Coast!!!! Really, Argentina is gonna have it against holland. I hope they cry when they lose. The match was so unfair I was really angry at how argentina was making time! Btw, Ivory Coast played incredibly well, I really don't understand how argentina scored twice... I mean in the second half of the game, Argentina only had two shots for goal...

incidentally, Mexico just kicked Iran's butt quite well 3-1, but overall I enjoyed the game (no sissy drama or bad sportsmanship )

Yesss! pretty good match overall. After that I saw Portugal beat Angola, but I was kinda disappointed by Portugal, because they have so much talent and they didn't use it. Luis Figo is amazing and Cristiano Ronaldo didn't play very well... I hope Portugal gives a better match agains Iran

I also think the change of substitues was onporpusly slow...but come on, those cote divorians had the ball a bunch of times but they couldnt shoot worse if you asked them to...

First of all, I'm not exactly sure which game you were watching - I was actually quite impressed at the LACK of acting this game! True, I think in the past the Argentine teams were a bit known for falling to the turf at the slightest change of wind direction, but they were clearly not employing that technique in this game - at least not more so than has been done by any other team in this whole cup so far!

Second, EVERY team has had their players go down to try to draw the penalty - that's just strategy. Some refs call it - some don't. There's going to be a lot more of it, it's nothing new.

I was actually quite disappointed they didn't beat the crap out of IvoryCoast - I really believe they were the better of the two teams. I'm suprised no one has said a thing about the potential "off-sides" goal. I'd have to see it again, but it looked to me like the one of the players may have been off-sides. But, the player who actually received the ball (and scored) wasn't. I dunno, haven't seen any of the highlights of that one. Still, we all know the game should have been 3-1. Lets not forget that play in wich the keeper grabbed the ball as it hung over the goal line (even his foot was IN the goal)!

As for England's win: ok, a win is a win - but you know they have yet to earn goal in this tournament! You can't even win a game without some south american scoring for you

Mexico: viva mexico! I wanted to go hang out at a mexican bar soooo bad for this game, but I was home nursing a hangover and bottling wine with my dad. Had to listen to most of that game.

I was only half watching that game on Monday, and I took a peek at about 75 minutes in, and the score was 0-1 Japan right? So I log on to DV chat and see Roller in there, and say "Awww, too bad for Australia, Japan kicked your ass HAHA!"

Then Australia scored 3 times in the last 10 minutes and I missed the whole thing

during the injury time, Gerrard scored a goal

and yes, they played quite bad until the last 18 min...Crouch was like some kind of drunken donkey until he finally redeemed himself with a goal

Hey, we may have played badly, but the end result was pretty good. We're through to the next round (wootus!), 'ROONEY!!!!!' is back in the game, and to be fair we had a lot of possession, unfortunately the shots were pretty poor. You could really see a difference in game play and tempo when Rooney and Lennon came on.

And that was a pretty good goal be Gerrard (a left footed one from miles away I might add)
