All I know is it looks better than the older one. Turn off the sounds if they annoy you, and if it's "bloated" or "slow" maybe it's your computer. If ice paid good money for it, you shouldn't criticise it unless you're willing to provide something that's better and costs the same or less.

A chat is better than NO chat at all, too. Saying "it sucks" does nothing. If you guys can find a better bargain online, seriously, POST THE LINK cuz im pretty sure the staff will check it out and consider it.

pessimists, the lot of you! shame!

$5 But you're still right. "Are you making a difference or making a fuss?" - yes, that is a line from a song, but it still stands true (hint: the answer is a fuss). Shame the .fla source or whatever isn't available for it.

This beast of a machine is clunkin along at 3.2ghz... doubt thats too slow

Its just the chat application takes up too many system resources.

Most people don't notice it, maybe its because they're USED to their computers being bloated with all that spyware and stuff.

I dunno... you guys can use it without me, if you need me I'm in #dreamviews on irc.darkmyst.org

I love the new chat. THe old one.. well, it was classic, but it crashed. Alot. For me anyways. And geez, I think I used that in 1995. Get with the times, people! And I like the sounds. You know when a new post is made, so when all is quiet, you can still surf the web, and when somebody posts, just go back to chat. Also, Seeker is paying for this. Live with it.

[11:09:35] <funnyperson> The internet was first thought of in 1960 should we stop using it

      are you talking about IRC?

well its sorta the same thing with old appliances... they don't make 'em like they used to. Back in 1995, the computers sucked great ass, so they had to make a chat that the computers of the day could handle. Now in present day 2006 we've got about 12x the computing power, 1000x the internet bandwidth, super 1600x1200 resolutions with graphics cards that support anti-aliasing, real time raytracing, HDRI, and all these honky dory applications where more thought is put into making it look nice than there is into making it actually work good, its just all a load of bullcrap. The reason I support IRC is because it runs in the background of my computer without taking up hardly any extra processing power. As for FlashChat, well, when its open in the background, my processor's working at around 10 percent rather than just the 0-1 it normally runs at when doing idle internet stuff. And that makes my computer hotter. And that makes the fans run more. Making a lot of noise. Giving me a headache. And all that heat from the 8000 members at DV's computer will ultimately lead to the inevitable heat death of the universe, a little faster than it would have happened if there were no flash chat!!!!

I re-read this post 3 times until I figured out there was no word missing unintentionally; sweetshoes is talking about how FlashChat is great, rather than how it'll destroy the world (see MSG's chart), NOOOOOOOOO.

Like everyone says it's hella bloated, but I don't mind the style and the sounds can be turned off.
