Hi Callista

A lot of people get a bit confused and think that people who use NLP are EVIL UNETHICAL WIZARDs or something.

Before I tell you what exactly NLP is I will tell you this:

As I said, NLP is broad subject. People use it in different ways. People like Paul McKenna and Derren Brown (Uk) use NLP (click Derren to see how it CAN be used)... If you don't know them you may know Tony Robbins (I don't like this guy) - He's always on those damn infomercials.. These infomercials use many NLP techniques to persuade people to buy. If you've seen BS - Pen & Teller you will know that these infomercials don't seem to be working in an ethical way - This doesn't mean NLP is BAD.

NLP is all about FLEXIBILITY (trying out different strategies to get the outcome you desire). NLP is about challenging your own beliefs and making people think deeply about their own beliefs.

So here, what is NLP?

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a set of techniques or rituals and beliefs that adherents use primarily as an approach to psychotherapy, healing, communication and personal development. NLP methods include the use of guided fantasy, visualizations, affirmations, trance states, hypnosis, and specific body language such as posture and eye movements.

You can read about the presuppositions of NLP here - I also say, these are to be challenged by yourself.

NLP doesn't claim that these presuppositions are necessarily true, but they turn out extremely powerful, in the sense that they will assist those who follow those models of the world in achieving more easily what they really want to achieve.
