Thumbs up

I've been thinking about gender a lot lately, and reading everything I can about it. roles, identity, differences and similarities, everything. I've realized it is a very complicated subject. I haven't yet asked anyone else anything about it, and I thought this would be a good place to start. so here are some questions, I would really like to know what other people think so replies are greatly appreciated.

are you happy with your birth sex?
if you had the chance to wake up tomorrow, with all of your personal features and physical traits the same, but with a body of the opposite sex, would you accept it?
and do you think men or women have it easier?

I think that's all I wanted to ask, but if anyone has any additional thoughts I would definitely appreciate it. thanks for reading.

also,I really like the optional topic description.I love it.actually I like a lot of the new options and things,it's been awhile.so..nice. :)

I think guys have it easier in the way of hair, makeup, that time of the month, etc - but I don't really mind that stuff even though it can be a hassel sometimes. Actually, I really enjoy being feminine - though I'm definitely not a girly-girl. I grew up as kind of a tom boy, had more guy friends than girl friends, and was very competitive in sports. I guess I felt the need to prove I was just as good as a guy, since I felt like people expected less of girls.

To answer you questions - yes, I'm happy with my birth sex, and no, I don't think I'd accept it if I woke up tomorrow as a male. I feel like I can use my gender to benefit me in ways - I can sweet-talk people and generally get what I want at stores and stuff, and I feel like I can only do this because I'm female. It's not fair - but, hey that's life.

men have it easier, definitely

biology has men honed for hunting and gathering food for the tribe, and fighting off rivals encroaching on the tribe's resources
guess what the modern man seldom has to do.....

biology has women honed for caring and nurturing our young, and raising the alarm if the tribe's defenses are breached

this is also my theory for why women scream when in danger, and men will just charge at people flailing their arms

Yes.

No.

and do you think men or women have it easier?

Good question. Men have it easier in some situations and women have it easier in other situations. Time of the month sucks, dressing up involves A LOT of time (formal dress, hair, make up) and we still see men getting the higher paycheck in some fields.

However, I've been pulled over twice for going 11 mph over the speed limit within like a week. The first guy didn't even WANT my license and registration and the other guy left me with a verbal warning. I'm a waitress, guys will tip me better than they will waiters (the single, middle aged, scary ones).

Honestly, I think their about the same. Guys have to shave thier face, girls have to shave their legs. Girls spend forever to get ready, guys have to pay for everything. Girls can get all emotional, guys don't get as bad as often but they get funny looks when they do. Guys work longer, girls have to take care of the kids. Girls can flirt their way out of trouble, guys can beat their way out of trouble.

Yes I am using sterotypes but only as examples. Theres nothing stopping a guy from growing a beard and making the girl pay for dinner and nothing stopping a girl from throwing on a tshirt and having the guy take care of the kids.

You lose out on a lot of stuff but you gain a lot of stuff as well. It really does balance out at the end. Atleast I think so.

and do you think men or women have it easier? I think no gender "has it easier", I think there are huge inequalities between the genders in many different areas; some to the benefit of men and some to the benefit of women.

Are you having a holy moment?

I would definately not want that to happen, but I could live with it if needed.

Men. The only disadvantage I can think of, which is a minor one, is when the dick gets so hard that it is visible on the pants.

I don't understand, you mean if I woke up in a womans body but still with my physical traits? I still say no.

I am perfectly happy with my birth sex and am totally at ease with and accept both the masculine and feminine traits of my psyche.

Gender IS such a complicated thing, at least on the mental, spiritual, and emotional level. There are very few people that are totally one or the other, most of us fall into the spectrum at some point. Some are unhappy and try to suppress that side they detest, others learn to accept and revel in it. It is the second of these that are truly happy with themselves.

Wake up in the morning a woman, why not. It would be an interesting experience and I would live it to the fullest.

Currently, men have an easier time than women. It's still very much a male based society.

you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Yes I'm happy being male

No I would not

I disagree with most of you, guys have it bad sometimes, a woman can cry anytime she wants but if a guy cry's everyone's going to call him weak, guys also have to be the dominence in a relationship 2/3 of the time, and have to initiate 9/10 relationships and guys have to put up with the emotional troubles of women when they go through all there hormonal changes. Women's jobs are much easier then mens, infact thats a reason why jobs are easier, more women in the work force.

And no prostate exams/cancer for women.

I see a male society this way, women don't have to worrie about a nation if they choose not to, the males do all the government stuff kind of nice of men.

And being gay is ten times harder then being lesbian.

all depends on the way you view things and women's problems are much easier to see, expesualy if there mind is set on the fact that they have it hard.

Im happy with my birth sex

If i woke up tomarro as a woman That would be ok because I would be able to see what both genders are like and no ones actually done that before.

I think women have it easier, everyone has to respect them, and you can't hit them, I believe they are able to be themselves and speak their minds easier without being picked on. Men usually pay the price when it comes to dating (not just in money). It really depends on where u live to who has it easier. Most people I know would agree with me on this one btw.

Are you happy with your birth sex?
No. If I could be born again, I'd prefer to be born and grow up and live as a female.

[/u]If you had the chance to wake up tomorrow, with all of your personal features and physical traits the same, but with a body of the opposite sex, would you accept it?
No. Regardless of what I would rather have been, I AM male. Physically, socially, and psychologically.

And do you think men or women have it easier?

Such an open-ended question, nigh-on impossible to answer. What I will say, is that I by far prefer the female form, female psychology, and feminity from a social perspective. I'd prefer to live and have lived as a female than as a man. But, *shrug* I'm a male, and there's nothing much I can do about that.

personally I don't think either "have it easier". I've thought about it a lot and I think that the problems and privileges each have equal out, I was just curious as to what people would say.

men. women have that whole one time a month... childbirth... paid-less for the same work... thing...

and on a side note, i laugh when i see 'gender' on a survey in place of 'sex' seeing as gender is a state of mind and sex is a physical state. kthx.

I am pretty happy being a man. Only reason why I would have be a woman for one day is because looking into a mirror would be a whole of a lot fun then.

However a woman's brain? Hell no!

just kidding

I am very happy with my birth sex. The experience of being a "mother" (being pregnant, giving birth, nurturing my children from the female aspect) is what I have liked about being female the most.

If I had a chance to wake up a man, I would jump at it, and like Seeker says "Live it to the fullest." This could be the start of another thread but if you had the chance to live your life over again exactly the same or completely different, what would you do? I would most definitely live it completely different! I've already experienced it once one way, why do it all the same again?!!!!! Same with the gender thing, give being the other gender a try!!
At any rate, I believe having been a woman, I could be a better man. And vise versa. Having been a man, you could be a better woman! You'd have the insight of being the other sex first.

Men have it easier. Society has made it that way.

I'm pretty happy being male but I wouldn't be bothered in the slightest if I woke up a girl. I don't think gender is as big a deal as everyone makes out... only psychologically.
Besides, in some ways I think a boyish girl is the optimum human being... can't say the same for a girly boy.

I dont think just because its a male based society (which it is not so true were I live) means we have it easier. the question is "which gender has it easier" not which gender has more of a lead role in society. sometimes having more privliges means having more expected out of you, so just because women don't like their job's or pay or whatever, doesen't mean it's harder for them. the fact is, people generally expect men to be leaders and women expect much more from a man than what he expects from her. That is why I believe that women have an easier time then men in todays society.

I think it is very close to a tie, closer then most people could imagine. I am sure that someone could come up with lot's of good reason's why a man has it easier, but this is the way i see things currently.

Yep.

if you had the chance to wake up tomorrow, with all of your personal features and physical traits the same, but with a body of the opposite sex, would you accept it?

No. Firstly, because I would make for a pretty ugly woman. Secondly, I would be humping every cylindrical object in sight.

and do you think men or women have it easier?

Depends what you mean by that. Overall, I'd say men and woman have it equal. It depends what society you live in, though.

Ask The Blue Meanie, he lives in Iran and would probably bring another perspective. :yumdumdoodledum:

I would probably accept the body of the opposite sex because I am who I am. Society would be helluva lot less likely to be me as a female though.

I do not think men or women have it easier, no.

I don't mean to go offtopic but I don't think that is the same paperdoll that used to be on DV, notice the post count of only 4, I find it cuincidental that you choose the name of one of DV's most known members of the past, correct me if I'm wrong but are you the same paperdoll that changed there name to hysteria?

Anyway I just learned something in health class today that when a teen mom becomes pregnent the father is often charged with something close to rape, even though he is the same age and this guy my teacher knew was sued $52000 to pay for all the birth (problem birth)of his child, becouse he simply got his girlfriend pragnent.

apearently sex is 100% a male choice nowadays.

I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
To lucid dream is my real test
To control them is my cause
