      Name Changes?

I just noticed that ataraxis changed his name to wasup. And I believe AdamA has changed as well. Adam didn't change very much though.
Anyway, why would anyone want to change their names? A little change, like Adam took off one A, and I want mine capitalized, but what's the point of totally changing your name? Everyone knows you by your name, so changing it is like creating a new account. Nobody would know it's actually you. So yeah, why do it?

For me, my name used to be wasup like, 4 years ago. I wanted to have some nolstagia. Also, it's fun when none of the n00bies know who I am but all of the old/veteran members recognize me

I had my name changed not long back, i used to be lucid_seeker, to be honest i don't know why i didn't capitalize it when first making my account here, i guess i didn't expect to be here as much as i am now, so i got it capitalized and got rid of that pesky underscore to make it look a little better, Lucid Seeker seems better to me somehow, more formal.

Well, I'm not a veteran member, but I remember the avatar.

I was going to change my name, but then I found out it was the trendy new thing. Being a rebel, I have to go against the grain, and decided to stick with the status quo. But I might do it anyway, I'm just unpredictable like that.

Or was conforming to being a rebel Making you more of a conformist than changing it?

Thus the reason why Non-Conforiscism cannot exist.

      So I'm Pseudo-non-conformist.

So not only have you failed at non-conformity, but you faked failing at it.

      Okay, that's just weird... officially...

I was lying in bed yesterday, just thinking about random stuff, and MSN came up. Your avatar jumped right into my mind, and I thought about your user name.

And a minute or so later, I was thinking about the time you changed your name to the Ataraxis one... Which I didn't like... As the first name you had always was the best... You WERE like your first user name...

But what exactly was that name?

It was on the tip of my tongue at the time, but now I remember: Wasup

Keep the name, dude... Suits you better ^^

Ah... yes, and for those who are wondering: Unless I get sued for having my current username, I WON'T CHANGE IT... EVAR!!!!!!

I created a new account instead of changing my name. New account, new beginning.. oh man I've used that phrase too often already.

I wanted to change my name about two seconds after I'd registered it.

I couldn't think of anything else so I just typed in: "Alban."

That'll teach me to listen to my brain.

I kind of want to change but when it's all died down, don't want to be seen jumping on the bandwagon. Either:

      Goldney
      or
      Mercutio

It always seems so cheap to change one's username. I think that if you do you should start over unless you have a good reason for doing so. If you're only changing a letter (like Adam did) or capitalizing or removing an underscore, etc... (Lucid Seeker) then that's cool. It's the complete name change that makes things confusing for other members.

I was part of another forum for a year and it was prime breeding grounds for constant name changes. Some people had new usernames every week/month. I'd get a PM or post response from some one expecting me (and others) to know who they are. When that stuff becomes status quo then it gets annoying. I don't see why you'd want every one to suddenly not know you.

That's exactly the way I feel! I actually want mine capitalized, but I would never want to change my name entirely, and like you said, it gets confusing. And I wouldn't blame the admins for not wanting to capitalize usernames because the user didn't do it the first time

I agree. Little changes like that are okay, but we try to discourage full name changes unless there is a good, compelling reason.

I was burns91 when I first joined, but ended up changing it to Burns after I became more active. Everyone else had nice, capitalized names and mine was crap

      or if thats too long

      Ellis D.

      (^with the period)

good compelling reason = Cause I'm relatively new here so it wouldn't matter all that much. And I love you?

My name rox my sox, and I'll only change it if the dots ever cause encoding problems in the database.

They put you last on the memberlist. Don't get rid of them!
I'm actually suprised they let you keep it, I thought Asher banned all non-alphanumeric/underscore characters. After the whole reverse character ordeal, which let someone create an account with the same name as someone else.

Really? Well if he says something about it, I'd change it. I'd do anything for the admin!

That honor would go to the card our post office sent out with some info about the US Postal Service. There's a fine-print sentence at the bottom that has (if I remember my count correctly) 263 words! Now that's a run-on.

Yes, I know that even longer sentences have existed.
