Shred them up first. |

Usually when I go to a cash point machine and check my bank balance or take money out, I get a mini statement. Then I just shove it in my wallet. I've decided to throw these away seeing as my wallet is full of them. Are they safe to throw in the bin? |

You should be okay, however I thought these mini statements always blocked out most of the account number anyway? |

We have a 3-way paper shredder at home in which we shred anything that will fit in it - junk mail, old receipts, etc - ANYTHING will our names, address, or any other information on it. After it's shredded, we either recycle it, or burn it our burn pit, depending on how much we have. |

I always just throw them in the nearest bin. I never really gave it much thought, but I'm sure the bank wouldn't print the receipts expecting everyone to shred them. There'll be security measures already in place to stop people using them to get your money from your account. |

I wouldn't count on that badassbob. The BBC did a recent exposé showing how little most banks cared for customer security. They just threw away old credit cards in the rubbish along with account details etc. |

Wow, I'll keep that in mind It's scary how careless important information can just be let out to the public. |

You can't expect absoloutely everyone who uses a cash point to be at risk of identity theft if they don't shred the receipts. Maybe the statements you get in the post, but the little receipts have most of the account numbers removed anyway. I doubt anyone will be so good at guessing that they can simply fill in the gaps and take all your money. There's pretty much no info on there anyway. You get a balance and the amount you withdrew, that's just about it. |
